Description
Castlevania's Alucard, son of Dracula. As his name suggests, he is the opposite of his father... Besides that, don't quiz me on more details because this is another character I'm really not familiar with (haven't played the Castlevania series) and I'm only going on what my friends have described of him to me.I have drawn him before, but this is the first time for me in my new style. Really like his character design, especially because his colour palette is so black/white and what little colour there is, is only very subtle. The trick with doing this drawing was to bring out all the tiny detailing that helps to embellish what would otherwise be a very bland picture... and boy, did it take me a looooong time to fiddle with
I have also taken liberties with certain details that were inconsistent when looking up ref images - like the clasp on his cloak... so I just... made it up as I went haha

I generally start at A4 size/400dpi and then I adjust it as I go to suit before reducing it for uploading to 100dpi

Oh Christ. I'm poking around the net looking for some nice pictures of Alucard, and I find this one, and I'm just gearing up to leave a gushing review about how gorgeous it is... then I see the username. YOU! My favorite goddess of Link portraits! LOL. So, yeah, turns out you also do a BREATHTAKING version of Alucard. His eyes... dear God, his eyes... And that hair, OMG... Just outstanding. I love how you managed to keep the colors relatively muted and calm, and yet make it look so striking and beautiful. And hey, if you ever find yourself with some time to spare, you should totally give the games a try; Symphony of the Night is one of my favorite games. Pretty vampires, pretty vampire hunters... *blissful sigh* 10/10, this is going straight into my favorites!!!

As usual, Trixie, I'm blown away. ....Favorite subjects and all.
Technically, our boy Al's only half vampire, despite being Big D's boy. His mother was mortal, and that's the reason he has a soft heart that everyone in the game mocks him for. (And what drives him to defeat his evil daddy who killed his sweet mommy.) This hybrid form is usually referred to as a Dhampir, for whatever reason they decided to use some Balkan folklore for background...Vampire Hunter D is pretty much the same as Alucard, excepting having a funky hand demon and being dark haired. SOTN is really beautiful still, I drag it out to play that game once in a while just to work out all the percentages and get all the special/secret stuff, because it really was so detailed and fun. I haven't really enjoyed any of the "updates", I guess I'm still in love with that sidescroller. I believe you can get it via Sony's PS Network to play if you wished to try!

Aww thanks! I love the original art thought - the artist, Ayami Kojima is one of my favourites and her work helped to revamp the franchise and give it the look and feel we were to become familiar with
