Thanks. Yeah I noticed that too when I was done with this picture >< Because it's not my style to draw realistic, I must have dug up from my memory somewhere more 'real' looking styles - I realised it was probably Hong Kong manhua since I used to read and reference that a lot... dammit XD

Thanks I'm going to try that as soon as I can figure out how to render this so that it does look real. Funny enough, even though I some how managed to shade it in monochromatically, doesn't mean I understand how it will work in colour XD

Actually, working monochromatically DOES help you understand color somewhat. You have a very firm understanding of values/shades, which is essential in working in color. I'm pretty sure you can do this in color, with a little practice. You seem like a very fast learner as it is.

You might wanna check out Dave Rapoza's gallery, he does the most realistic characters ever, and he posts blog entries on his work method
Come to think of it, I wanna do a realist Vega myself
