You'll do a great job too. If it helps, draw in pencil little arrows where you think the light sources will be: that helps guide your shading and they can be deleted afterward. If you color him in Photoshop it's even easier as they can go on the top-most layer for a layer delete before posting -smiles warmly- and I'll be looking forward to seeing a lot more of your work hon

Thanks and I know what you mean - it's like my hands are so determined to keep drawing in that exaggerated style no matter how hard I try XD I'll have to do some more general life drawing practice if I want to go any further with this realism thing...

I was recently in the same boat as you then I started drawing faces a LOT, sketching people on the train and stuff. And now I feel like I can't draw anime anymore -_-
Somebody gave me their character to sketch, and I started going nuts - wait, what race is he? What shape is the jaw? Is the nose upturned, or is that just the anime style?
I do like anime style, though XD but now I need to remember how to draw it again...

haha yeah that's me but opposite - I realised for this picture instead of going from anime to realistic, I just ended up going into manhua style XD It's another style in my repertoire that I learned ages ago D'OH!!

Hmm, idk if I'd necessarily say it's just manhua style - it looks sort of like some of the Final Fantasy characters, too. I would really just classify it as semi-realism: it's got more realistic proportions and more details than your standard manga/anime style drawing, while at the same time smoothing down a lot of facial characterisitcs.

You're right! I guess it is a hybrid (gosh I really didn't know what I was doing here haha) But thanks for the Final Fantasy comparison - I love that style! Honoured XD In the meantime, I'll try to figure out how to colour this in... Thanks again for the pointers!

Wow! This is amazing. I like how your style still bled through even though it wasn't your typical 'style' (if that makes sense). As soon as I saw the thumbnail I was like, "That looks like TixieLix's work, but different..."

It's an excellent mix of realism and anime - I have to say, the parts that really caught my eye are his hair and his hand. Very awesome!
