Description My first Pysanky (Ukrainian) egg in 10+ years.

Ok...so it's not my first, it's my 3rd this week, but the first two are far too awful too post. I decided to quit trying to make straight lines and went a more organic route.

Started with a naturally pale blue egg (hard to tell in this photo), then a yellow-green dye, then finally the dark green dye.

Pysanky is the Ukrainian art of decorating eggs using an ancient-looking tool called a kistka. You use the kistka to write on the egg with wax. Then, when you dye the egg, the wax resists the dye and the design underneath stays. You can then repeat this process over and over on the egg. In this case, I only used two dyes.

Ooh, I'd love to try that technique. In our country we just use a simple paintbrush and water color. Really difficult to make anything pretty that way. I guess that's why your swirly design caught my attention
