Description As both a stock provider on and a photomanipulator and 3d artist, I thought a tutorial on properly crediting resources might be useful. Having received comments like "Hi, I used one of your stocks" (which stock? Where?) and seen credits that don't even include a link to the artist or which stock... "Credits: tkrain-stock, lisajenstock"

For many stock artists and for some clubs and contests this is far from enough. This tutorial will give some suggestions for good stock crediting, including how to build links to the stocks used, thumbnails, and crediting offsite resources.

Thank you so much; I'm fairly new to DA and had no idea how to link properly. I did a lot of experimenting to create a link to groups let alone create proper links for stocks used. Now I can do it the right way.

unfortunately I am not able to see thumbnails at my 'artist's comments' when I write :thumb#####: where # is the number of pic, I can see also [thumb#####] after deviant is uploaded. Did I miss sth?

thx.

Do you mind if I post a link to this in my journal on my stock account? I know a lot of people would benefit from it.

By all means. With all the controversies over crediting of late, the more people that see it, the better.

thanks for that!
I'm not a stock user (at least not up to now)....but the tricky codes will for sure be helpful in other occasions.
Where do you know about the codes? Is that something you have to be born with, or is there some reference to be find somewhere?

I was aware of the but the other HTML bits I was woefully unaware of. I have no clue about HTML and have no desire to learn it, but will certainly use these bits more often.

Thank you very much!

Although the idea of crediting with thumbs seems like a really good one, I think it's best to keep in mind that only paying members can use this option.

Otherwise, a fine tutorial and I always make sure to credit every single reference I used to make a piece. (:

Thank you for putting this all together for people. There are a lot of artists that either may know how, or don't realize that it is good etiquette.

This is great! It's good to know there is a better way to give credit than just listing names.

I'm glad you like it. I was afraid some folks might get offended by it, but so far it seems well received.
