Description
What? you say? Butters and Bokeh? Are you looking at that EXIF data and seeing that the focal length is 50mm and that there is a aperture of F/1.7? Do you say "Taryn! Don't tell me you got your prime lens!!!"And I say YES! Yes I did get my prime lens!! It came in yesterday, paid for mostly by birthday money, costume prize money and portrait sitting money and I am now the proud owner of a Nikon 50mm 1.4D lens. It's shiny. It's awesome. Look at that paper thin DoF where one eye is in focus while the other, just a couple inches away is already going out of focus.
So I had to show it off, my wonderful shiny new prime lens with one of my favorite subjects: Butters!
To compare, I've placed in Scraps what I usually get out of my 18-55 kit lens:

Ah yes ! I know that My cats do the same. Sometimes they look at me and they seem to say "If you don't stop with this, I'll eat you !".

I looooooove my prime lens!! I even used it in the aquarium that I was just at a couple hours ago and got some stellar photos thanks to its speed with the wide aperture as well as the bokeh it gives me.

Amazing results- But dont give the technology too much credit- Not everyone could achieve these images with the most expensive equipment, in a million years!

I just have to put my memory card in now and see how those photos of the Columbus Aquarium turned out using this lens. I thought "Low light, lots of colorful fish...get out the fast lens, Taryn!" so now I just gotta look at the photos!

LOL I agree--the fast lens makes SUCH a difference--unfortunately the 70-300 I have isn't as fast as my prime, but that will come eventually!!
