Wolf Park has a Howl Night where they encourage the wolves to howl by starting it up. However when the wolves of the main pack began to howl while we were there, a pack across the lake had begun and so the four wolves we were with began to howl as well. It is a beautiful, eerie sound that many of us joined in to vocalize with them, and between it all I was frantically snapping away at the wolves as they howled, Wotan and Wolfgang most vocal and active about it.

My only source of disappointment was that this classic head-raised howl position had to be severely cropped to remove another photographer just standing there while I had the camera pointed in his direction. Rather than move out of my way, he stood there and so I had to crop. This is Wotan raising his voice to the howl and I still smile to remember these moments.
