Description
Taken at The Wilds - Cumberland, OH. The Wilds is a wildlife conservation center that focuses on conservation of animals through scientific research and education and promotes the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle philosophy to conserve our world. This is one of the three male brothers that were in a very large enclosure at The Wilds; he was staring at me for a while as he walked closer but there was fencing in the way (you can see it at the bottom of the frame). One spectacular fact about these cheetahs at The Wilds is that they currently have nine adults and have just recently become the proud parents of nine babies! You can bet I'll be back in the summer when they're out in their space so i can see baby cheetahs!
Expanding the genetic diversity of cheetahs through responsible breeding is essential to the survival of cheetahs. Their conservation status is Vulnerable as there has been a decline in their population due to habitat encroachment, poaching by farmers and inbreeding that has weakened their genetics further. Educational programs in Africa has helped against the poaching and accredited zoos and conservation refuges like The Wilds has done a marvelous job in increasing the numbers of my favorite animal.

Very Nice, although he looks a little overweight. Can't wait to see the babys though. Cheetahs are my favorite animals

Oh yes, between the winter and not being actually in the wild, the cheetahs are going to have a lot more meat on them. I can't wait to see them either, I hope there will be a tour that lets you get in close with them!!

Wow, great pose!
... You don't normally associate the Cheetah with snow... But you pull it off!

Thanks! LOL I know you don't, but they are one of the cats that are typically in a hot climate that still develop a winter coat so they're able to remain outdoors year-round.
