Description
Hey again all, this time I've got another pair of character design sheets and profiles for the Superverse to share with you all. I am posting this as an immediate prelude to to my next CID event pic requested by . In this case I wanted to post the full details (or at least a base profile) for the two Hero characters that are in the CID pic, before the CID pic went up. As you may have seen here; Superverse: Violet Shadow and Sparrow redux I have a "family" of Superheroes based in the City of Eboncroft, that are based on the Bat-Family of DC Comics. This is part of my "writing mainstream characters I like by proxy" effort, making things that are more my own, rather than pouring effort into officially-owned IPs. In this case, Silver Shadow (on the left) is the founder of what's called the "Shadow Family" and Fade (the Woman on the right) is one of the members of the family who joined later. As you can see, these two were originally on different image files which I spliced together just to do this quick update. In this case, Silver Shadow would be the Superverse's Batman, and Fade would be the Superverse's Batwoman if you will.
Some bios for both;
Silver Shadow-
The Heir of one of Eboncroft City's biggest Investors and Industry bigwigs, the Son who would watch much of the Father's battle against the seemingly endless corrupted forces rife in the shadowed metropolis to the end. After his Family's seeming eradication one fateful day, Arthur Dane temporarily disappeared beyond the eye of the public. For a matter of years, Dane clawed his way out of a survival situation, securing training and assets while his enemies thought him gone, until reclaiming his Family Mansion with the aid of his lifelong allies, drawing the gaze of those who supplanted him. During the climax of his return, and his Legal ascent back into his Father's Company, he wrested the Industry from the hands of forces beyond even the Mortal Plane. For a time, rebuilding the lost Corporate Empire proved sufficient, but the forces of an Illuminati-like organization known as "The League of Whispers" showed their hand clear as day. Narrowly escaping an assassination attempt by agents of Eboncroft City's former supernatural Masters; The Vices, Arthur saw the need to take things to the next level. Designing a costume, amassing gear and putting his training to use with the support of his old family ally, he became the Silver Shadow, and began to stalk the streets of Eboncroft during its darkest hours. Thwarting crime both petty and otherworldly, the new vigilante began to actually shift the balance of power in a system which the Criminal Underworld had long been accustomed to reigning over uncontested. Low-level Crime began to fade away, but in its wake several Supervillains rose to fill the void, causing the lone Vigilante to dig deeper. Stealing the ability known as "Shadow Step" from the eldritch beings known as the Vices themselves, he began to turn their own powers against their forces and the growing number of supervillains. In time however, the ranks of evildoers only continued to swell, especially with the "City beneath the City" known as the Undercroft, Shadow began to pursue recruiting several allies to aid him in the field. Adopting several young teenagers (Shadohawk, Violet Shadow, Sparrow, etc) following his original sidekick who took the moniker Raven, the growing Shadow Family held back the tide. Amid this, several adult Heroes - Fade and Clairvoyant to name two - also joined the Shadow 'Clan', though Silver Shadow also began supporting the rise of entirely new Superheroes in Eboncroft.
Fade-
Rachel Watson spent many years of her youthful adulthood serving in the British, and then US Military, following in the footsteps of her Father who she had been close with since her birth. After a falling out which cost her the place in this service, Rachel went on a lone trip of self-destruction, bar hopping across the East Coast of the US, fearing she had stained her family legacy beyond repair and unwilling to face her Father in the wake of that. For about a year, this continued, until she found herself angrily walking out of a bar one fateful night after a failed attempt to pick up a date in one of Eboncroft City's countless bars. Suddenly she found herself surrounded by several masked men, who quickly attempted to mug her, with her inebriation leaving her in a vulnerable place. But fortunately for her, the City's Guardian; Silver Shadow rapidly reminded the thugs why the abundant darkness of the City was not necessarily their ally. Helping her up, Rachel met the masked vigilante for the first time and thanked him, and as she was safely on her way to where she was living, she began to feel a sense of fate pressuring her. Partly out of guilt after all this time, but also a sudden swelling desire to reconnect, she found her phone once she was back in her home, and called her Father. Yet her anxious excitement began to quickly fade as no matter how much she called him, there was no answer. Knowing this was bizarre, a sense of dread overcame her and she began to plan her trip back to London. The trip felt like an eternity to the red-haired Woman as the creeping sense of dread had yet to leave her, any time she thought about the lack of an answer - as it was alien to her Father, especially after she had disappeared on him - which only hastened her pace. Arriving at her childhood home, she found the front door slightly ajar, which caused her to drop what she was carrying, and dash inside. Despite minimal signs of a struggle Rachel could tell nothing was stolen, but her attempts to call her parent's names continued to go unanswered. After following the trail of the struggle, and combing every inch of the home she grew up in, she found no sign of her Mother or Father, which gripped her with dread. Rachel fell to her knees for a moment as desperation took its toll, but before she fell into it too deep, her eyes caught a glimpse of a glinting, golden coin, glowing as if the metal had just been pulled out of a forge. Wisely, she used thick gloves to pick up the coin, taking care not to touch it with her skin. Upon its surface she saw the visage of a grinning, sinister looking man, which made the hairs stand up on the back of her neck. Sealing the coin away in a small box she had, she collected her things and attempted to alert the neighbors and authorities surrounding her home. Yet to her dismay, no one even recognized her, or her family name. After a time, Rachel made her way back to Eboncroft, where she relentlessly sought out Silver Shadow, intentionally putting herself in harm's way. When he and his sidekick, Raven, rescued her, Rachel presented her plea to the Hero, and showed him the coin. Knowing the exact source, and the connection to the Vices it had, Silver Shadow took Rachel back to his Lair, where she became engulfed in the totality of what had happened. Embracing her only way to discover what happened to her Father, she took the Mantle of the Superhero "Fade", and donned a costume she now wears to fight Supervillains alongside the Shadow Family as she does now.
And there you have it. Sorry the write up here got a bit more verbose than originally intended, but it is what I needed to spell out. Next up the CID event request featuring these two.
Hope you like! Let me know what you think!
