After a whopping thirteen years of theories and dad jokes Mathew Patrick the (original) game theorist is now retiring. Yes, I know that he’s retiring tomorrow and not today but it’s still sad. I honestly know why he’s leaving and it’s a good reason with good intentions, he’s a husband and a father now and he just wants to spend more time with his wife and watch his little boy grow up. The only problem is he’s most likely not going to be able to do that if he keeps juggling family life and personal life with professional life.

I don’t know if he’ll come back every once in a while or even ever but at least I can sleep calm knowing that Game Theory, Film Theory, Food Theory and Style Theory are all in good, safe hands (and also GTLive but I didn’t really care for that one). Goodbye MatPat and I hope you enjoy your retirement.

Edit: I don’t think I’ve gotten so many people to favorite any of my work before, also I checked and MatPat’s final game theory video about the real study of game theory (the concept that the British took and used for one of their game shows) is number one trending on gaming. Just two examples of how impactful the retirement of one of the longest running YouTubers is.
