The duo had been running for quite some time. Literally running. Away from the hunters. But finally the strange turtle creature was able to continue at a slower pace when the hunters retreated to their campsite, too tired to continue their hunt.
In the young turtles hands, she held a wolf pup. He had been the prize the hunters were after. She had found him in the woods, injured by one of their hunting tools. The pup was lucky to still have his leg. The turtle child had then taken some wrappings from her arm and bandaged the pup, stopping the bleeding. When she heard the hunters coming, the turtle scooped up the wolf pup and began to run. The hunters, seeing the child's silhouette and thinking it was a full grown wolf, pursued them.
But finally they were gone, and the turtle creature was alone with the wolf pup.
She was used to being alone at this point, having lived in the forest in solitude for several years now. However, she hadn't always been alone. Once she had a family, and a best friend who was like a brother to her. They called her Machete, and cared for her greatly. But an accident separated her from them, and landed her in this forest with no means of finding her family.
The pup let out a small squeak and rubbed his face against hers. She smiled, realizing she would no longer be alone, and stroked the pup's fur. He nuzzled into her neck.
Suddenly, something bright caught her attention. She looked around and noticed she had come to a small clearing in the middle of the forest. The light she was seeing came from the moon above. Her face lit up, just as bright as the moon.
"Look at that, Riz." She spoke to the wolf pup, "Look at the night sky."

As soon as I saw the original image was turned into a base, this idea immediately came to mind.
I've changed up Mash's origin story slightly and I actually like it better this way.
Possible full written story to come.
