Hey Guys!I've been wanting to draw my TMNT OC in the 2012 style for awhile and finally did it. I had such a hard time finding a name though.
I also tried a new shading technique to try and match the style. I think it turned out mostly nice for this picture. What do you guys think?

Oh gosh, I'm not even close to finishing the current Romance and Doom. There are 9 chapters and I haven't finished chapter 3 yet. XD
Also, Romance and Doom was meant only for 2K3, because it's the story about how Raph and Kitkat meet. The story of how 2012 Raph and Kitkat meet will be different. And I have been thinking about writing a story for that. Maybe someday it will become a comic too. X3

I see her as a Jeanette. First things first before I go into "opinion" mode: the drawing is great for novice artists such as yourself, the shading is great so far, and the expressions are alright. Shading is always a struggle especially for me, because you have to figure out where the light is facing the character(s) and the way how the shadings are suppose to flow. Keep it up, and pretty soon you'll be able to do a different style of shading.
Okay into opinion: cross-overs are alright, it really depends on how the story goes though. I'm not much of a fan when it comes to people placing their OCs with the turtles 'cause it's just odd to me. I don't know, probably because I'm so used to seeing the turtles so original that I can't see them getting with anyone (cept for this year's couples). I'm okay with the self-inserts, just that people go too overboard and I'm like "dudes wtf!?!".
That's just my opinion, but again people create good things and yes it does amaze me at times, just not all. Overall, this looks great; Raph's expression is really cute, like something just slapped the shit right outta him and put him into reality. Keep up the good work

I guess I forgot to mention her name was Kaitlyn, though. But Jeanette is a very pretty name, and I can sorta see it. And yeah, she was never meant to be a crossover OC. She started as a Fantastic Four OC and then ran off into the TMNT world. I couldn't stop her.
I understand why you'd find OCs odd. I feel the same way sometimes.

Yeah I was like that when I was 13, I always placed myself or my OCs into some crazy shit and it usually never turns out good. That's why I make my own stories instead, but now and then I sometimes make fan fics but never put any new characters unless if I really have to.
Now I never have time to even make any fan fics due to my webcomics and commissions on the line :/ so it sucks for me, but it's good to make fan pics now and then.
And you're very welcome, I have so much time in my hands right now that I'm just doodling TMNT stuff so I figured "meh lemmie stalk fan work"

Same. Looking back at my old stuff, it's totally embarrassing.
I'm also pretty busy too, keeping up with all my college assignments. I finally got a nice little break tonight so I could finish that picture.
And Cool. I have a couple original comics too. The OCs and fanfics and stuff are just for fun. I just don't post a lot of my original art because of possible art theft.

I hear ya, I usually go way back into my old gallery and I find the most embarrassing pictures I've ever made, especially on what I write xD
It's odd now, but you live and you learn. Oh man yeah especially when school or college gets to ya it's a hell of a ride to try and finish up some pictures, or even have time for yourself.
I usually watermark my pictures so I wouldn't get any art theft around my property, so it's easy.

Yeah, looking back shows you just how far you've gotten.
I do use watermarks when I post original stuff, but I don't really like to because it covers some of the picture. I also get nervous about people stealing the idea.

yeah I barely even have time to even check out who's stealing my stuff. Usually the people that watch me come to me and say "Mandy someone's stealing your work, I already reported them" and soon they get banned :/ so no action for me :C

Ha yeah. Oh yeah I also wanted to tell you: I was thinking about your new shading style, and I think I can help you out on that. I didn't put a full description on this [link] but I'll tell you.
Let's see, usually what I do when I shade my characters, I use a darker color of the original one, let's say for example the color of Raphael's mask. His is red, so before I shade it I choose a darker red. I have to figure where I want to put the shading on the mask, let's say for example on the sides and a little bit under his eyes. It's going to be messy at first, but then if you have a "smudge" tool on your software, use that to even up the shadings, give it a little shape. Make it blend perfectly. I'm probably going to have to make a tutorial of that, but hopefully this helps.
