I still remember this one Mikey quote that had me like "OMG, Mikey!!!", he said "She's so hot, I can feel my shell tightening", and Raph follows with "We can hear you!" XD

I got really creeped out when Mikey said that in the trailer. That's the only line of Mikey's that I don't like, otherwise I think he was written really well. I talked about it in one of my pre-movie reviews.

I think it's kind of cute the way Mikey is crushing on April, it's ironic because Megan Fox has expressed that she has had a "crush" on Mikey in the past   speaking of Megan Fox, I think her acting in this movie is actually pretty good. Ok she's not FANTASTIC, but her performance is something I can definitely swing with

It is funny, and totally like Mikey. XD
And I was just telling my sister the same thing about "April" the other day. I don't have a huge problem with her acting and I feel she's trying her best to portray the character well, being that she is a fan. I find her hand movements a bit weird and excessive at times, but overall she's displaying determination and other characteristics a reporter like April should have. I also think she has some good facial expressions at times.

I do agree that some of her shots look awkward, but thankfully that's only a small percentage of it I just think that people are being a little bit mean to her, and I kind of feel bad because she seems like a nice person. She actually made a good point a couple days ago when she was addressing the fanbrats of this movie by saying the same people who hate on Transformers 4 are the ones who had caused the movie to make a lot of money. While I'll disagree that the quality of a movie is based on how much money it makes, I will agree that the haters of this movie are probably still gonna see it anyway because a majority of them are pretty biased. As for Mikey's crush on April, some people are kinda giving that backlash too, because they think it's only a way for the movie to express how "attractive" M.Fox is. This is mostly due to the fact that Mikey makes a joke about his "shell tightening" because of how April looks. While I will agree that that joke was kinda out of line, I think people are forgetting that there was a bit of "Aprilangelo" in the 1990 movie and most of the scenes were of him commenting on her looks. Despite that, I think it's still kind of adorable that Mikey has an admiration for April, I personally think he genuinely likes her because she seems like a nice person and knowing Mikey, he sees goodness in everything

Exactly. It really upset me that people were hating so much on her, but sadly I wasn't surprised. I don't even really hate on her. I'm not big on the idea of her playing the character, but like I said before, I think she's doing her best with it and people shouldn't hate her for that. People are always like that though. Whether they're hating something because it's popular and they want to be "different" or because they genuinely disagree with how it turned out, the reason doesn't matter, they just need to learn to not be dicks about it and they need to understand that some people will enjoy it for what it is, and that's not a bad thing. Megan does not deserve hate. Period.
I am, however, surprised to hear people hating on the Mikey/April crush. I can see why the jokes about her looks are received negatively, and that "shell tightening" line creeped me way out (left me a bit stunned, to tell the truth), but I blame Michael Bay for wanting to put those in. And because it's a Michael Bay film, that s#!t should be expected. The crush Mikey has for April is cute and let's all keep in mind that he's a teenage boy who has never interacted with another girl until now. Social graces, these boys do not have.
But that's true that Mikey sees the good in everything. It's one of his best qualities. He's the one who will never give up hope, because he will always see a glimmer of it somewhere. I bet when the three of them are captured and Don and Leo are starting to lose hope, Mikey will start talking about how Raph will save them.

Amen to that buddy! Fanbrats treat her like she's a second Hitler or something, it's just ridiculous! Fox doesn't deserve all this backlash, especially from a group of people who she's probably WAY more mature then. I was a little thrown off by her casting as well, but then I thought "eh, it could have been worse, they could've chosen Kristen Stewart who is 10 times worse than Fox." Critics are already hating this movie only because of the 2 possible reasons you have already listed and because now a days, critics are very bias and are often payed to give a certain movie a bad or good review depending on who made the movie.
Luckily, there is not one review in the world that will stop me from seeing this movie, I prefer to come up with my own conclusions I will agree though, M.Bay has a bad habit of putting in "perverted jokes" within his movies, sometimes I feel like he's been watching too much Family Guy, because that's where I think his sense of humor comes from. When Mikey said that I felt like I needed to slap him in the face (or just do what Leo did, push his face away) and scold him for being inappropriate! I think of Mikey as being an innocent character, and for the most part in this movie, he is, but that comment shouldn't have came out of his mouth!
The fact that he is flirting with her doesn't bother me though, like you said, Mikey is a teenage boy who hasn't had much social interactions with humans, let alone a girl, so of course he's gonna make the most of it and try to be "charming" around his new lady friend
As for the "captured" scene, I hope that it ends up being an inspirational/heart-wrenching scene, especially if the inspirational moment comes from a speech by Mikey of how they shouldn't lose hope and that Raph cares about them enough to come rescue them. I imagine that in that moment Leo would feel as if he failed the team all together and that Donnie doesn't feel there is any possible way to escape their cells, or to be even rescued by Raph. Whenever there's a bad situation, you can always count on Mikey to make you smile, because he's nice like that
Fun Fact: Noel Fisher, the actor who is playing Mikey, is from the same place you're from, Canada!

Exactly! I never read/watch reviews of something I'm planning to see until after I've seen it. Although, there are a few critics I trust and respect when it comes to the movie making side of the review. Like, how the plot, story and effects were put together. Other than that, most stuff talked about in a review is opinion based, and that varies between people. I also don't trust basing the success of a movie off the box office results, because that just means people went to see the movie, not that they walked out liking it.
I don't mind most inappropriate jokes, and sometimes I do find them to be funny, but only if they're in the appropriate setting (like that's the whole theme of the movie. Example: Ted) and then I only think that the first time around. If I were to watch it a second time, those jokes get old. I expected jokes like that in this movie (because of Bay), but I'm really hoping that those kinds of jokes are limited, especially when coming from Mikey. You're right when saying he is the innocent character and should stay that way.
You can always count on Mikey to make light of any scene, even if it's a self defence technique of his to keep him from getting hurt mentally and emotionally. I already know he's going to make at least one joke when in captivity, because there's a clip somewhere of him tied up saying "That's harsh" with a big, goofy grin. You can also tell he's in a little pain, though. Mikey's the one who hides his pain the best and he uses that as a strength to keep his brothers strong and fighting.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this movie with friends once my schedule clears.
And OMG! I didn't know he was Canadian! Right on! XD

Well, other than that one joke, most of Mikey's flirting is generally innocent, so nothing wrong there I actually saw the movie last Friday and it was really good! There are only about 3 inappropriate jokes within the entire movie so there's not a lot for you to worry about  there are even some scenes that will make you feel kinda sad as well, but I'm gonna keep my mouth shut from here on out because I don't wanna spoil anything for you  I did say before that the quality of a movie doesn't depend on how much money it makes, so I have to agree with you on the whole box office situation. Even if I liked the movie it doesn't mean that everyone else will or have to, and I'm completely cool with that. After I had seen it, I knew in my mind that this movie definitely isn't for everyone, and that's OK as long as people are mature about it.
Yeah, I think the reason why Mikey tends to joke around a lot is because it's just his way of dealing with stress as well as other emotional issues, he tends to do that in this movie a lot and that's one of the reasons why I think he's just so darn cute ^_^ Mikey's a great character and if he was real, I'd always say to him "don't ever change, brah"  Lol yes, I was actually surprised that Noel Fisher is actually Canadian, he is a very gifted actor and a very nice person (not to mention he is very handsome  )

Well, that's a relief to know. And thanks for not spoiling anything
But yeah, people just need to respect others and their opinion. The really sad thing, though, is that a lot of directors and movie studios are just making decisions based on money, and that usually makes for a poorly made movie that still ends up making millions (I'm not saying TMNT is in this category). And then the studios who actually give a damn and care about making a good movie get shoved to the side. This happens especially with animation studios, and that really hits home for me because I'm going into that business.
It also made me a little sad to hear TMNT beat out Guardians of the Galaxy in the box office, because as much as TMNT looks like a fun movie, I really feel that GotG was done amazingly well and I already know there's parts of TMNT I'm going to be disappointed with. However, my opinion on that may change after I see TMNT.
That's one of the greatest things about Mikey XD He is no doubt the cutest one among the turtle brothers. But Raph will always be sexy.
Noel Fisher is sooooo cute! I saw a clip of him saying "Cowabunga" like Mikey and it was perfect.

Ugh, I hate cash cow movies, if the movie itself isn't bad enough, then the marketing is definitely something that is WAY more excruciating to watch  Unfortunately yes, a lot of well made movies are often pushed to the side. A similar thing has happened to me with 2 movies I have watched, one was Frozen and one was The Lego Movie. I personally thought that The Lego Movie was better than Frozen, it had its own original idea as well as more enjoyable characters, but everyone was SOOO busy worshipping every little thing that Frozen had to offer, that The Lego Movie was very blindly over-looked. Now personally, I'm not really into seeing Guardians of the Galaxy, mostly because I don't watch that many Marvel films (except for Spider-Man and The Avengers) But I totally understand your feelings here, a movie should be made for fun, not profit. Plus, even though I loved Tmnt, I will admit that I was disappointed with specific things within the film, it was a good movie, but it definitely wasn't perfect.
Yes Mikey is very adorable! But when it comes to this movie, I have more of a thing for Leo, he's so sweet and snarky! Plus I think he is very handsome! But that doesn't change my opinion on Mikey, every time he's on screen I just wanna give him a big teddy bear hug!  To be honest, I think April is very lucky to have Mikey care about her that much! He's just so darn squeezable!   Noel Fisher is now definitely one of my most favorite actors, his perfect "Cowabunga" has earned him some admiration from me ( PS, yes Raph is very sexy  )

That's actually a good point with Frozen and the Lego Movie. Although I really enjoyed Frozen, it's not my favourite Disney movie, or favourite movie period, and Lego Movie delivered way more laughs and entertainment for me. But I have to say Frozen was written well and had a good lesson.
And that's cool. All marvel movies aren't for everyone. I wasn't even too familiar with the comics of GotG before seeing the movie and I probably never will be, unlike other Marvel characters who I do follow comic series for. But putting aside that it was a Marvel movie, it was written very well and had some amazing, emotional scenes.
But guess what? I finally saw TMNT! Already posted my review of it. I was very pleased with the turtles, but my main issue was that the story and writing was very fast paced.
Mikey was the best turtle among his brothers in this incarnation. Perfect casting, perfect writing. Leo had some awkward voice acting at the beginning, but did get much better. His appearance in the film was also mostly appealing, aside from a few unflattering shots I already knew where going to be in the movie. I'm just glad that's all there was. Mikey's crush on April was very cute, and made me laugh quite a bit, but it got to the point of obsession I think, and even though Mikey kept making me laugh with every action and expression (he had the best expressions), the crush-on-April joke got a little old by the final scene. Still cute though.

Frozen wasn't a bad movie by ANY means, it was very well written and it did in fact have a good message ( plus, I'm not afraid to admit that I am a sucker for the music ) I just think that in terms of plot and originality ( as well as an equally good lesson and enjoyable characters ) I think The Lego Movie delivered a lot more I'm cool with the fact that you like Guardians of the Galaxy more than TMNT, even though I'm not really planning on seeing it any time soon, I can understand why some people would like it, it does look pretty cool and maybe I will check it out one day ^-^ OMG you finally saw the movie! Now I can talk to you about it without any consequences! I agree that the movie itself is too fast paced, the first time I saw the movie I could barley remember the first few scenes ( I am speaking of the scenes before the turtles show up) And I felt as if a lot more scenes that were teased within production should have been included. Other then that, the movie was great for me! Especially the turtles themselves and the backstory! Remember a while back we were discussing the estimated ages of the turtles? Well it turns out I was right, they are 15 years old! That kind of surprised me though, I mean look at them, there freaking body builders! XD Oh well, in anime a 15 year old boy is usually very tall, and since I have seen a good amount of anime, a tall teenage boy is something that I'm used to seeing anyway ^_^ Johnny Knoxville' s Voice for Leo was played out very well to me, they were sometimes when I can hear his southern accent though, which kind of tipped me off a bit, but most of the time it was ok. I loved how they made Leo both polite and snarky at the same time, like when he said "could you PLEASE hand over the camera?" in a somewhat interrogating tone and when he was addressing April sarcastically when he put his arm around her and said "hey, glad you can make it" XD, I know those were very short scenes, but I can't help but laugh at them every single time! As for his appearance...like I said before, I have a thing for him in this incarnation, no other way around that  They're were some scenes that made me feel sad as well, like when Leo, Donnie, and Mikey helplessly had to watch Splinter get severely get beaten down by the Shredder, which had resulted their capture and also the part when Raph finally admitted that he loves his brothers, those scenes get me every time And just a side note, I thought it was really sweet that the turtles (specifically Leo) called Splinter "dad", in other incarnations, they have only went as far as calling him "father" and I thought it was very nice that they call him dad in this movie, it just goes to show how much they really care for Splinter Now onto Mikey's crush on April, it was charmingly cute, I don't really care that they over did it because like you said, the performance, casting, and expressions for him were just SO perfect! Noel Fisher IS Michelangelo, he did very well with the role and he seemed to have fun while doing it, I think he's even good enough to rival Robbie Rist ( I'm probably gonna get flamed for saying that  ) My favorite parts of him was "MC Mikey", The 99 cheese Pizza, "My girlfriend's totally the hogusha", and last but not least "Cowabunga!" ( I liked it when Raph said it too ^_^) The last scene when he sang "Happy Together" was pretty funny as well, not because he was hitting on April, because he clearly doesn't know how to sing if his life depended on it Overall, the movie was really fun and it'll definitely leave me with a good feeling every time I watch it ( TMNT 3 should take notes, from this movie and the other 2 TMNT movies before it)

TMNT-Raph-fan In reply to TheCreativeSonicPega [2014-08-27 19:29:38 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, definitely. Loved the music from Frozen. I kept singing "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?" to my sister and her response was great.
Me: Do you wanna build a snowman?
Sister: What?
Me:  C'mon, let's go and play
Sister: no
Me:  I never see you anymore, come out the door. It's like you've gone away
Sister: Stop
Me:  We used to be best buddies
Sister: NO
Me:  And now we're not
Sister: Good!
Me:  I wish you would tell me why
Sister: Seriously, stop!
Me:  Do you wanna build a snowman?
Sister: I said NO! *Throws pillow at me*

Anyway, (went a bit off topic there, sorry), Lego movie was a lot more fun and my friends and I couldn't stop laughing.
But yay, TMNT talk! It did take them a bit to intro the turtles officially in the movie, and I think I would have preferred them to show up right out of the gate. They could still have done the whole shadow ninja thing, then the reveal, but it probably should have happened sooner. I'm also sad at how much they cut. I think the movie would have benefitted greatly from keeping some of those scenes, and I really wanted to see Raph walk down the street in his disguise. There was even a behind the scenes filming clip I saw with Raph's actor in his MoCap, April beside him, and he leans down to take a picture with a tourist kid. I imagine the scene went something like Raph and April running out of the sewers just after his bros were taken and they're going to meet up with Vern. But some kid sees him and, thinking it's a costume, wants a picture. So Raph leans down, smiles and takes a picture with this kid. After they leave April tells Raph they should get a disguise for him, and that's when they dress him up. But the whole thing was cut, so now we'll never know.
The turtles in the film were done incredibly well. Mikey was most spot on. The back story had some issues with me, but otherwise I enjoyed the new take on it. I just wish Hamato Yoshi was included and that Master Splinter didn't learn Ninjitsu from a book.
It was revealed a while before the movie that they would be 15. And sadly there was no reference about them being so large for their age. But I didn't mind it as much as I thought I would because their characters were done so well, and scenes like the one in the elevator made them really feel like they were teens.
Knoxville sounded a bit awkward to me at the beginning, especially when he said "hello" to April in that really weird tone when she first saw them, but he improved greatly throughout the movie. I was pleasantly surprised at how well I enjoyed his voice acting.
I absolutely loved Raph's speech at the end. So perfect. And I love that they call him dad too. Hearing them actually call him "Dad" made me melt. I think I kept letting out audible "awe" noises in the theatre every time they said it.
And yeah, despite my feelings about them over doing the crush, I was still smiling when Mikey was singing at the end and his brothers were just %100 done with him. My favourite bit about "My girlfriend is totally the Hogusha" was when Leo smacked Mikey's arm with his own without even breaking his bow to April. Such bros, I love it!
(Raph was very sexy when he said cowabunga )
As for your last comment there, I have to disagree slightly. As much as I did enjoy the TMNT 2014 movie, (and yes TMNT 3: Turtles in Time was terrible), but the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, I think, was better written for it's time (considering it's 24 years old now). But I do see what you're saying. The turtles' characters and acting was done a lot better than the 1990 version, but the story from the original movie was better written (again, considering the time).

XD, it looks like your sister isn't a fan of your musical side, kind of like how Mikey's bros weren't a fan of his musical side either ^_^

OMG! That scene was the same exact one that I was referring to when I said that I wish they would have added more of em! It's like you read my mind or something! Totally mondo bizzaro!   But seriously though, the "Raph in disguise" scene should have added in the final product, it was a great way to pay homage to the 1990 movie and it could have been a great advantage to show a deeper connection between Raph and April, since Fox claims that she has a closer relationship with him in this movie. Another scene that I wish could've been kept was the FULL version of the Elevator scene, supposedly the rest of the scene was cut due to fans complaining about Leo's "twerking" (if you don't know what that is, then you are the luckiest person alive  ) However, I think after they were switched back to teenagers and mutants, the filmmakers should've stopped listening to such certain complaints a long time ago, I mean, c'mon! They could've just kept the full scene! Who cares if Leo was twerking! He actually made it look good! XD well, hopefully those unused scenes will be included in the Special Features on the DVD, which I will be buying as soon as it's released
I've heard a good amount of complaints about the origin story, specifically about the absence of Hamato Yoshi. Now, I don't have an issue with Splinter learning Ninjitsu (sorry if I spelt that wrong ) from a book, I'll give it credit for making more sense then Splinter mimicking Yoshi' s moves from a inside his cage, a rat's body and brain is not developed enough to actually mimic such complex moves or even fully remember them. However, they could have at least gave a hint to Yoshi' s existence or past life within the movie. It would have clever if Yoshi was the one who wrote the book that Splinter had gained his knowledge from, or if he was still an enemy of Shredder as well, but sadly that wasn't the case, unless they're going to reveal more in the 2016 sequel (which has been confirmed by the way )  But we'll just have to wait and see.Like I said before, I don't really mind the fact that the turtles are very large for their age, there personalities and their looks are just so spot on that it makes me forget how big they are. I can see how Knoxville' s Voice would sound awkward to you, like I said, his southern accent kind of tipped me off a bit, but it was good nonetheless.
My heart is always touched whenever I hear them call Splinter "dad", just be careful while saying "aw" in the theater, some people are grumps and will call security to have you thrown out. You seem nice and I don't want to see go to jail XD just kidding with ya brah.
Raph's speech was so touching, especially when he started to cry! He has a tough exterior but a very kind heart! No wonder you love him so much :')
Mikey's crush was priceless! The Hogusha part was one of my favorites, Leo was silencing his antics while still trying to be in control and polite ^-^ Poor Mikey can't sing for nothing though, I think he crossed the line with his bros after SO many antics at that point, it was very funny and cute! Brothers forever!
OMG Raph's Cowabunga was just so...0-0 well you know what I mean
In terms of writing for its time, I think the pacing was definitely better in the 1990 movie, yes the actors were more developed in the 2014 movie, but in terms of pacing within the writing, 90s tmnt wins a point. But, I do love both movies like you do and there is no shame in that  TMNT 3 however...Yeah let's just pretend that we never laid eyes on that living nightmare  Anyway, I'm sorry my comments are so lengthy, I just love to share my thoughts with good listeners such as yourself and often have A LOT on my mind XD

Yeah, she hates it when I bother her with my weirdness.
And that's so cool! We are in mind sync!
100% agree with you. I also would not have minded them keeping the full elevator scene either. (I know full well about twerking and about when Leo did it XD). I had a very strong reaction when I first saw Twerk-inardo, but I wouldn't say it was a bad reaction. I just couldn't stop laughing. My sister actually had to pause the movie we were watching because I was so loud. Then she tried to shut me up by throwing stuff at me. But I think it would have been fine if they kept that bit in the movie. I was more disappointed with no Raph in disguise, though.
And true, thinking about it now, the book makes more sense than the mimicking of moves, but I really wish they had Yoshi and maybe I'd feel better about the book if it was bigger and he started learning it sooner, and then maybe got a hold of other media to learn from. But I guess they had to keep it simple, so I can deal with it. That would be a very cool Easter egg if they made the book's author Hamato Yoshi. The main thing that bothers me about no Yoshi is because it eliminates the strong rivelry between Splinter and Shredder. I hope they give more info on origin in the sequel, mainly because I want more turtle babies, but I don't want them to do anything that feels like a cop out. They did that with the two Ghost Rider movies and it was a disaster. (And I heard about the TMNT sequel before I had even gone to see the first one yet XD)
Like I said before, their large size didn't bother me as much as I thought it would because their personalities were so great.
Knoxville wasn't a bad choice at all, but I do feel that they could have done better. But they also could have done worse. So let's thank God it wasn't worse.
Oh, I know. I've been sushed before in a theatre (that was my fault tho, and I was good the rest of the movie). And someone once was constantly tapping the back of my chair. Not like a kid tapping throughout, but like warning taps to shut up. That's what it felt like anyway, and my friend told me I wasn't even being that loud. I was just whispering to her. The movie was loud enough to drown me out for everyone but her. I know I have a problem with volume control, but I usually am good in theatres. And I tell my friends to warn me if I'm getting loud.
I really loved the detail during Raph's speech. Not only did they animate his tears, they made his lip wiggle. So cute! My favourite part about Raph is his soft side paired with his attitude.
The main reason I love him so much is because I relate to him. I had a strong temper as a child, and still have one today (but I'm getting better), so I like seeing myself in him when he does amazing things.
Gotta love those brotherly scenes! XD
Love the cowabunga! Haven't had prominent cowabunga since 2K3 series and I missed it so much. So glad they included it. I want more for the sequel. I want Mikey to say it all the time because now he thinks he can after Raph allowed it one time. Raph opened a door that can't be closed, and I like it that way.
Exactly! (About loving both 1990 and 2014 TMNT)
TMNT III ... lol
Don't worry about it. I love hearing other's thoughts and sharing mine as well
Besides, mine are just as long, I'm sure.
