Description
Another creature for the world of Salus Carnis. Behold the Dreadworm!
The Dreadworm is a giant, armored snake-like creature that spends most of its time underground. As such, not much is known or documented about them. What is known however is that these creatures are highly notorious for their ambush and intimidation tactics when hunting for prey. The small feelers on their backs help them detect vibrations both within the soil and up on the surface. They use this information to move around, closing in on potential prey and evading potential threats.
They are also hard to avoid as they seem to tunnel through the ground in almost mere instants. And even when they miss their targets, chances are they'll simply try again on their way down, or stick around and whizz around their prey, catching them in coils and constricting them before making away with their prize. Even monsters like the lumbergorge fall victim to these creatures' shenanigans. Also, their armor plating makes them immune to most artillery fire. Fastest way one can take them down would be to bomb them or stab them with a decently sized blade or harpoon between their scales, and even then you'd have seconds to react before they tunnel into the ground or attack again.
Fortunately, they're not very many out there. But the few that are there are a menace to be reckoned with.
