Well you succeeded - the light is gorgeous. Very effective.

Well met,
I always find inspiration looking at your pieces.
I was wondering if you use PhotoShop or painter?
I'm native to PhotoShop, but I'm starting school in September for Art Fundamentals.
Tried my hand at painter to see if I can better prepare myself for school since it simulates traditional media.
But.. I absolutely hate it.

You should! It really fits with the dark, somber theme of your drawings here. I'm sure it could give you some inspirations. I really love the lighting in this pic

Your extra time and work paid off.
Well done!
This one is a bit more artistically complete as photorealism than most of your as-sketch-style images. Have you considered trying a few photorealistic images?
I qualify that I have not seen your entire body of work.

Thank you for your comment!
yes i was trying to jump out of my comfort zone and do something more polished/realistic so this one looks quite different from my previous stuff, and yes i will probably do a few realistic style paintings if I have time (they take so much longer than sketches so it's a bit challenging to find sufficient time outside my full-time job.. but worth a try )
