Description
Here one of the model sheets I did for the designing of the Jersey Devil for TMNT (2007) along with screen caps of the final model used in the film and modeled by the talented folk at Imagi.I had a lot of fun designing characters and props on that production with my friends Jeff Matsuda and Jose Lopez. As a fan of the original Turtle comics as a kid in the 80's, it was a great experience, and in all truth a childhood dream come true.

This guy was definatly my favorite monster...in my favorite movie. It's so neat to see this stuff.

Dude I have to tell you: I was quite let down by the lack of focus on the 13-monsters subplot. I mean, there was mention of the monsters, but in the opening narration they made the 13 monsters so important to the plot that I thought we would get to see all of them, fleshed out and given enough screen time so we can truly appreciate their designs. Being a monster fan, I was really stoked and looking forward to seeing more of them in the movie.
Oof.... sorry for coming on with complaints, but... hey, I just *had* to say so to one of the guys who handled this movie. Man! I bet it was a lot of fun

I thank you for checking out my work, Jed. As the guy who designed the 13 Monsters, I certainly wish the got more screen time. In the original script, they did. Ah well. The considerations of time I suppose. I wish each one could've had a more featured battle sequence, but what can you do...I still had a blast developing them.

Well, what little glimpses of those monsters I caught, I thought were really cool 
Oh, also... I read on some forums that the 13 monsters are actually monsters from both urban and classic myth, like the Yeti, Werewolf, Vampire, and Jersey Devil. Is that true?

The urban and folkloric sources is of course somewhat true. Most monsters spring thusly from imagination to the screen.

I brought this pic up when my boy was sitting on my lap... He saw it and said "I saw that movie... I love that movie!" He spoke for both of us. That little critter was my favorite of the bunch. Nice work man.
