A "Grueling" Ascend

The nest morning the crew started their climb. At first the going was good, until the cliffs started to get hazardous, here the friends had to slow down considerably.
"Ugh, you guys are so slow." Sonic groaned ten hooves in front of them. "Can't you guys pick up the pace?"
"As I said back in the Everfree," Crystal snapped "Sorry we're not as fast as you."
"You should be," the cyan colt snapped back "at this rate we'll never see our parents again."
"Oh Dashie, don't be like that." Pinny said, Sonic groaning silently at the nickname. "Of course we'll see out mommies and daddies again. All we need to...."
"Honey, you can fly right?" Sonic asked frantic to make the pink pony stop.
"'Course ah can." The yellow filly said "Ah jus' need tah make sure everypony's safe." And like on que Nano slipped and started to fall. "Ah gotta." she called diving after the violet unicorn.
"Thanks HoneyDew." Nano said when he was back on ground, a little shaken from the fall.
"Ok than." Sonic said turning to Constellation. "Can't you guys just teleport us to the top?"
"I wish I could," Con said with a frown "but even with me, Nano, Pinny AND Crystal's power combined we can only travel...about twenty hooves. But the magic will be very unstable who knows what can happen, like maybe all of our molecules get scrabbled, or maybe we will all fuse in to one pony, or..."
"Ok," Sonic interrupted sighing "I guess we're; well, you guys anyway; are walking. I guess I'll be seeing you all..."
"Now hold on a minute," Mocha said between a muzzle full of rainbow. "your not going anywhere." spitting out the rainbow tail and bringing Sonic down to earth. "We have to stay together, safety in number."
"But you guys are SO SLOW! I can practically RUN circles around you."
"Well, if that occupies you than do it." Apple Crisp said. "....That is if you really fell like it..."
Sonic sighed. "Can't I just scout ahead?"
"If that makes you happy than sure." Mocha said, "But be sure to come right back, ok."
"Got it." Sonic said saluting and racing up the mountain.
"I swear he's just like his mom." Mocha groaned.
