The Definition of Science

A few hours and lunch later, Sonic was awake by this time, the group came across a large chasm splitting the mountain side. "Well, how are we gonna cross this?" Crisp asked out loud.
After a little thinking Con said. "We can use that tree over there." Pointed to a old, bare tree. "All we have to do is bend the entire trunk back about....a hundred and eighty five degrees, and given we are all relatively the same mass we can all be shot across safely."
"I like the idea Con I really do. But I don't find it practical." Nano said.
"Whats wrong with it?" the younger violet twin asked, "I triple checked my science and math."
"I understand that, but you looked over some minor kinks in the plan my bro. And that is, we don't know how strong the tree is, and if it's strong enough to handle one launch we don't know about multiple; basically we don't have a clue how much strain the tree can handle."
"Ok than, we can forget the tree and have Honey and Sonic carry us."
"Again, your being unrealistic, illogical and hasty; But your mind is in the right place. First off, I don't think HoneyDew and Sonic could carry one of us. Let alone all of us, even if it were to go at different times. Remember what Uncle Sunny told dad; who in turn told us, science is just as much imagination as logic. What ever is known is known and what is not...."
"Is filled in with what ever you can think of...." Con continued.
"But within a realistic range." Nano added.
The younger unicorn twin sighed. "Ok, than, what do you suppose we do Nano?"
After ten or so the older twin said. "Well, we can uproot that tree over there use it as a bridge. The thing as I still know that the trunk can reach the other side."
"Well than," Apple Crisp said. "sis measure the length of the tree and Sonic measure the gap." The ponies filled out the orders.
"Twenty hooves over here." Sonic said.
"Twenty-five 'ere." Honey confirmed.
"Great," Con said, "Now we got to pull up this tree....this is gonna be a little hard."
