Trust in your Science

"Phew." Apple Crisp said plopping down on the solid rock of the cliff. "Remind me...never...to carry...big trees....until I'm older..."
"It...wasn't...too bad...Crisp." Mocha reassured panting.
"Easy for you to say." Crystal whined. "My mane is absolutely a mess, do you know how long it took to make it the way it was?"
"Crys, is that all you think of?" Nano asked.
"Oh heavens no, I'm think about my mother and father." Crystal said. "And how mother will ask me why my mane is a mess." Nano facehoofed.
"Anyway, moving on." Constellation said looking over the makeshift bridge they made with the old tree, "Who wants to go first?"
The others hesitated, the bridge didn't look like the safest thing in the world and the way it creaked and groaned wasn't welcoming either. "I think you two should go first." Sonic said, "You two thought up the idea."
"And that is why we don't go." Nano said, "If the thing does fault than we can think up another idea. Why don't you go."
"Me?" Sonic asked. "Why is it all ways me? Why not Honey" pointing to the yellow filly.
"Now wait jus' a minute...." HoneyDew objected, with the others starting to join in the argument.
"OK!!" Mocha interrupted. "Since none of you want to do it, I'll go." she took a step forward, "I trust your science guys, I know you two were taught by two of the best science ponies and by one of the best magic casters in Ponyville." she stepped on the trunk and started to walk across it. "You've double, triple, quadruple checked your work...."
"What is she doing?" Pinny whispered to Con.
"She's reassuring herself and keeping her mind off the impenitent fall below." the unicorn twin whispered back.
"Ooooooohhh." Pinny said.
"....and the things that went through your minds must be pretty amazing. And you two are only starting out, imagine all the things you two can achieve, with Con's brilliant imagination and Nano bringing him down to earth with logic. just think of it, you can build almost anything, things like, flying machines, or protable communication devices, or...oh hey, I'm here." the orange filly steped of the tree. "See, it's safe, now come on." The others followed, still a little wary, and they continued up the mountain.

After an hour or so they group found themselves in front of a dark cave. "Ok, I think we should rest up for the night...." Crisp said.
"Apple Crisp." a voice called the friends turned to see a purple dragon with three mares on his back fly for the cliff side. "That you?"
"Apple Bloom, Spike, Scootaloo and Sweetie Bell." they all exclaimed as the purple dragon alighted on the mountain.
"Hey guys," Scoot said jumping off the dragon's back. "long time no see. What are you guys doing out here anyway?"
"Were going to save the parents." Pinny said excitedly.
"Whoa," Spike said. "eight little ponies going to save their parent? I like your enthusiasm but do you know where they are?" Nano explained what happened so far.
"Wow," Sweetie said, "so much has happened to you guys. Too bad nothing much has been going on for us..."
"Well we were gonna go into the that cave." Con pointed to the dark cave behind them, "tomorrow, you can come along."
"That's great," Scoot said. "I have a map of the caves in the area right here." showing off her saddle bag. "I made it that time I went on an extreme scooter expedition."
"So everythang works out." Bloom said. setting up a sleeping bag.
"I'll get some dinner ready." Mocha said, "Spike can you whip up some fire for me?"
"Sure thing Mocha." Spike said alighting some old branches.
Sonic looked into the cave. "Mom and dad are over there," he thought. "we're almost there.
