The Everfree, The Ever Scared

After going to get supplies the eight children met back up at Apple Crisp and HoneyDew's house. "Ok, are we all ready to go?" Crisp asked his "team" who double checked their saddle bags and nodded. "Ok than, where are we going first?" Nano levitated the map Princess Luna gave them.
"That would be...the Everfree Forest."
"The E-everfree F-forest." Crisp stammered his ears drooping.
"Yeah," Sonic said alighting from the group. "that's what the map holder says. So come on, lead
the way, 'leader'."
"O-ok." the red colt said starting to walk.

"Um." Crystal said. "Can't we just walk around the forest, it's dreadfully dirty in there."
"Actually Crystal," Constellation said making accurate motions to go along with his explanation "the Everfree Forest is about one thousand hooves long in both directions, so if we were to go around the perimeter that would take us day maybe, weeks, months, years, eons, millenniums..." A violet hoof connected to Con's jaw.
"Ok, that's enough Con." Nano said. "Now, shall we." gesturing for the others to move forward.
"Well thank yah kindly Nano." HoneyDew said, taking the first step into the woods.

Apple Crisp was trying to act brave, but he was not afraid to show his cowardice in front of his friends, he was mainly being strong for his mom and dad. But no matter how hard he tried Crisp couldn't help but jump at every bush rattle, every breeze that blew, or every shadow that turns his way.
Sonic was clearly annoyed. "This is only gonna drag us down." he thought.

"A-are we supposed to g-go in t-there?" Crisp asked when the group arrived to the deeper part of the forest, where not too much light can breach.
"Y-yes." Nano gulped. "It's the fastest way to get to the mountain."
"But who know what can be in there?" Con said. "Maybe manticores, or cocktri, or dragons..."
"Cooooonnnnn!" Apple Crisp, HoneyDew, Mocha, Nano, Pinny, Crystal and Sonic shouted.
"Sorry." the purple unicorn said blushing a bit.
"Um...guys." Crisp said quietly.
"What is it cuz?" Mocha asked.
"I...can't go in...."
"What was that?" Nano attempted.
"I...can't go in the..."
"Can you say that again, louder this time?" Crystal coaxed.
"I can't go in there." the red colt blurted hitting the deck and covering his face.
Sonic facehoofed. "Is that it? Should not of expected any less." At this Crisp started to weep and raced off back toward home.
"Crisp." Mocha said, she turned to the cyan pegasus. "Why'd you do that?"
"I was just telling the truth."
"Well you did not have to be so harsh."
"Well whatever, I'm going." he turned to leave.
"I forgot you're just like your mother." Mocha muttered.
"Yeah, but I always knew he was just like his mother."
"Hey," Honey interjected "don't yah be bringin' mah ma an' pa intah this now..."
"Will you three stop arguing!" Pinny said jumping in between the three ponies. "This is not gonna lead us anywhere."
"Fine," Sonic said "but I'm going." and he flew into the deep brush.
"Sonic." Crystal said but it was too late. "Should we go after Crisp?"
"Nah." Honey said. "We need tah stick tahgithe'. We can't afford tah lose another pony, especialy if it's in the deep part of the Everfree Forest. And ah'm sure mah bro'll turn up sometime." With that the yellow filly took off in to the darkness.
