A Checkup of Sorts

When Apple Crisp slowly regained conciseness and stood up his friends surrounded him in a tight embrace. "Guys..." He said in between gasps "can't.....really...breathe...."
"Oops." Pinny said letting go, "Sorry there Crisp, we're just do happy that you came back."
"Of course he did." Crystal reassured, "He is the 'leader' after all."
Good thing Crisp's coat was naturally red because if it weren't he would have practically glowed. "R-right." he stammered starting to walk toward the edge of the clearing, "Ok than, shall we continue?" And the red colt took off.
"For our parents!" Sonic cheered flying to the tree line.
"Hey yah guys," Honey called starting to run. "Wait fer us now!" with the others trailing behind hollering and cheering all the way.

On the other side of the mountain in a castle the last of thirteen, Microscope, was waking up. "Uh," he groaned "w-what happened?"
"We all got snatched, that's what." Soarin said.
"At least we're all ok." Twilight Sparkle said nuzzling her husband.
"Ok?!" Rainbow Dash asked. "We all were captured by this black...cloud....thing, and what's worse is that it got Celestia too. You call this ok?!"
"Geez, Rainbow calm down." Pinkie said "Usually Fluttershy's the panicky one."
"I'm not afraid because we are all together." the aforementioned shy pegasus said.
"Indeed," Princess Celestia said. "as long we are together we shall be safe. And do not worry, help is on its way."
"And, if I may ask princess," Caramel said "Who would that be?"
Celestia concentrated and a ball of diamond was levitated out from underneath a stack of straw on the floor. "I always carry one of this around." she said and concentrated again lighting the sphere into a variety of colors after about a minute or so a picture if Nano came on.
"Hello?" the purple unicorn answered. "Is this important? We kind of were in the middle of a race."
"Nano!" Twilight exclaimed walking up to the ball, "Can you hear me?"
"Mom?" Nano muttered but was interupted by Con.
"Mom! Oh goodness your ok, and by judging on your surroundings I think I can see the others. Sorry, light really ain't too good here in the Everfree Forest."
"The Everfree Forest?" Fluttershy asked in a concerned tone. "Oh dear, why are you guys there?"
"Goin' to save you guys of course." Pinny said hopping up and down.
"What?!" the parents exclaimed in unison.
"Ah, the connection is getting bad." Crisp said the video starting to break up, "Maybe Celestia can inform you. We.....base of....mountain east of Ponyvi..." the ball died down.
"Welp, yah heard mah son." Big Macintosh turning to the celestial sister, "Do yah know what's going down?"
Celestia informed the twelve on what captured them, and how the kids plan to defeat it.
"Wow," Pokey said. "A whole new set of elements?"
"Indeed." Celestia nodded.
"So, all we need to do is wait for the foals to get here...." Rindstone said.
"Ah guess..." AppleJack said.

Later that evening after the eight ate some dinner Mocha cooked up using the various twigs they found to make a fire they laid done their sleeping bags and got in to get some rest for the climb ahead.
After a few minutes of waiting HoneyDew slowing sat back up and turned toward the Sparkle Twins. "Honey," Mocha said surprising the yellow pegasus. "why in the hay are you doing up?"
"Um...uh...nothin'" Honey said her mouth scrunched up and her pupils becoming small and darted here and there, it was a good thing it was dark out.
"If you say..." Mocha said smirking a bit and laying back down.
