After a little while of countless direction asking Sunny was finally able to locate the local weather station. It was actually right behind the street he lived on, right next to a clock tower. It was three floors tall with a hanger facing the north attached to the building.
And as the red weather pony was about to walk into the establishment he was stopped by a rainbow blur. "Stop!" a cyan mare, presumably what zoomed past him, said raising her hoof to Sunny's muzzle, "State your business here at Ponyville Weather Center, we're preparing for the new boss to arrive so no visitors without important business."
"That's the thing," Sunny explained, "I'm the new boss...."
"You?!" the rainbow maned pony exclaimed, "Don't make me laugh, you're an earth pony, weather is a pegasi's job."
"Yeah and?" Sunny asked. "So what if I'm an earth pony, I can do this job just as well as any pegasi could. Think of it as a sort of challenge, taking a job that you have a disadvantage in, absolutely exhilarating. You have to push yourself to greater limits to get over your disadvantage, you have to go the extra mile to achieve. That and I have a cutiemark based on weather," Sunny showed his sun-above-cloud cutiemark to the cyan mare, " I have a master's degree in meteorology, and the mayor appointed me to this job."
The rainbow pony was hovering off the ground with her mouth ajar, she recomposed herself and said. "I don't know what trickery is this, but I guess I'm gonna believe you...for now. And listen buddy. I've got my eye you and she zoomed off.
"Well," Sunny said aloud, "not the best introduction, but certainly not the worst." And the scientist made his into the complex. He did get some strange looks, either form being an earth pony or that he was talking out loud to himself about the building and the pegasi. But either way it did not phase the scientist, he's been through it many times.

And when that was done Sunny decided to stop by the library to see what type of books they have, on the way he met a very old friend. "Well whack me upside the head an' call me Sassafras, Sunny, is that you?" the weather pony turned to see Granny Smith hobbling behind him.
"Oh hi Granny Smith. It's been a long time hasn't it?"
"Sure has," The elder mare said, "'bout a dog's age. My have you grown, an' it seems like yah got yer cutiemark...." she was interrupted by a sharp yell.
"Big Macintosh, what in the hay are yah doin' out here?! yah supposed to be buckin' the south orchard!" Sunny turned again to face an orange mare with a Stetson.
"Uh, I think you mistaken me for that kind fellow who helped me move in." he said peering to the mare's anger filled emerald eyes.
When she realized her mistake the mare, assumed to be a farmer due to her southern accent, took off her hat, put it in front of her face and apologized, "Oh, ah'm sorry, ah thought yah were mah brother fer a second, yah know, with yah bein' red an' all. Will yah accept mah humble apologies?"
"Sure thing....um..."
"The name's AppleJack, yours?"
"His name's SunnyStorm AJ." Granny Smith said before the scientist can reply.
"Yah kn ow 'im Granny?" AppleJack asked.
"Sure as sugar do, ah was good friends with his parents befer the...incident."
"What incident? Was ah away at Manehatten at the time?"
"You've been to Manehatten?" Sunny asked.
"Long story." AJ simply said.
"Ah'll explain it at home." Granny Smith said. "And did ah jus' here that yer movin' in tah Ponyville Sunny?"
"That's right, just moved in this morning. The mayor gave me the job of captain of the weather team."
"An earth pony weather captain eh?" AJ "Rainbow Dash might not get it."
"So that was her name?" Sunny muttered. "I think I might have run into her, she was pretty steamed when I dropped by the weather station."
"Well that RD fer yah, really hot headed." the orange mare chuckled, "Ah'm sure that she'll warm up tah yah in due time."
"Well," Sunny said. "I think I've wasted enough of your time, I'll see you around."
"See yah later Sunny." AppleJack said starting to turn toward Sweet Apple Acres..
"Hope you have a good time here in Ponyville." Granny Smith said. "And remember that yer always welcome at Sweet Apple Acres."
"I will." he called to the apple farmers walking to the library.
