Whenever I look at a house like this I can't help but imagine what it must have looked like back in its prime...when people inhabited it when it was new, none of them ever thinking past their own futures enough to realize that even though they are gone, their house, a monument to who they were, remains ....
*ahem* sorry about that, lovely picture *sheepish grin*

Oh I know what you're saying! What I see is old family photos from the 1800s with the whole family standing in their finest for the photo and the old house all painted nicely and looking brand new.
We have a lot of old family photos like that and I find them fascinating. I guess thats why i take pictures of these old places. They express the saddness I feel that life is so brief for us.

Yeah, I love photos, whether I'm taking them, in them or snatching them from my grandma to look at how some of the earliest members of my family looked and dressed.
At the risk of sounding like the complete nerd that I am, "Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived."
- Captain Picard
*grins sheepishly* what can I say, my cousin lived in my house for a year and he was obsessed with that show...

Oh, that's so sad! I can get ridiculously sentimental about buildings and stuff...poor thing, all alone and wondering why it's been abandoned...
Omg...need to get out more! Beautiful image, as ever.

I don't think it even exists any longer. I took this 35mm back in the early 80s
But I'm glad you like the photo!!
