haha Well, the Indians and later the French (explorers, trappers, missionaries etc) did a lot of canoe paddling around it, as they did all the Great Lakes, and up the larger rivers.
Glad you like the scene. It's pretty typical of the Lake Michigan shoreline. Of course you can't see the beach, as this is looking off a small bluff.

Lake Michigan is so huge you would have to have been pretty bold to take it on

Well, these "Voyageurs" are legendary around the Great Lakes. In the 1600-1700s small fleets of huge, 12 man canoes transported cargo around these lakes and rivers. They would paddle all day for weeks at a time. Tough dudes.

Well, I don't think they crossed the lake, rather around it close to the shore where they could stop and camp nights.

This photo is fantastic, the colours are amazing. This pic makes me want to build a cabin right there and live my life with that view. But i think i will have to settle with favourite-ing this photo haha. What post processing did you do? Was this a digital or film capture? Any chance of some details of the camera settings?
Cheers
Tom

Thank you It is digital, auto set. All else is PS, or B.S. depending on your point of view.
