Description
Well, here it is. At last.According to my first journal about this picture, the date was about a month ago. Has it been that long? O_O Granted, I wasn't working at a continuous pace, more like on/off each day.
This, if you may or may not know, is me trying to replicate the shading style used in Paper Mario. While looking at the original arts and renders for Paper Mario 2, I noticed a pattern with the shading. "This looks like I could replicate this in a vector tool," I thought to myself. If you hunt around the internet you can see the edges of the shapes inside the Paper Mario character renders (especially with Bobbery and Koops) are tinted differently in a thin layer close to their insides.
I tried to do the same thing while basing visually off of an old Nintendo render of a paratroopa. (NOT TRACED, mind you, this was all done by myself.)
Now I am very satisfied with the results. I love this look: it's so crisp, so nice, and it still has my drawing technique look to it. I hope to use this in many of my future drawings, because I'm totally happy with the end product.
Thanks to *ChemicalAlia and *nishi for giving me various pointers and for the mentoring.
Full view is very recommended!

Pretty good. Looks like it came straight from the offical SMB3 artwork itself! I like your skills so far.

Aside from the hand in the back(his right hand. lacks a palm/wrist like the left hand), that kicks ass PK.

It's obvious that a lot of work has gone into it, especially the line work and shading. Pose is cool too. The shading on the head is closest to Paper Mario shading.

Turned out really well. ^^ Even though you didn't follow the lighting outline rules in most areas, I guess that's still something that just needs a little work. :3 And I think you should have colored the front part of the shell instead of leaving it blank white... you didn't even shade the little inside of the shell... that sort of made it a little less exciting... but still, you really improved compared to your normal work, bravo. :3

Cute but the leg looks a little weird. Kinda too fat. But still cute

The shading's fine, and the head / shell / wings shapes aren't an issue; but you still draw hands and feet funny.
