Description Guess who else is featuring in my new animation?

It took blummin' ages to model that mask.

0.e I'm so excited It's gonna be so cool when I finish this movie!

What modeling program did you use?

Yeah, I see you're going for the movie style, which you really got in your models. The only thing I can comment on is naturally the fact it could use some more detail, don't be afraid to spend a few more polygons on your models

Yeah that's a bad habit - i got used to low poly modelling when i was using the physique modifier with the bipeds, and now i just use link constraints :/ I find it easier to model in low-poly as well i've used turbosmooth on some parts but on others it completely distorts the shape so it's annoying me muchly.

Get used to working with some more advanced geometry, trust me it makes modeling more fun when your models don't look all blocky and pointy

Trouble is, it also takes time, which i don't have i have to model all the characters and scenes, write the story, animate it, and compose a soundtrack by april

Hmm, have you looked into Subdivision yet? Subdivision is the easiest way to boost up your model with a smoother-looking, more organic look. For that you'll have to learn sub-divisional modeling first, which is pretty straight forward most of the time. I'm not sure if your program has sub-division though, do you use Blender, Max, Maya, Lightwave?

I use 3ds Max, and i have tried subdivision but it doesn't actually seem to do anything. TurboSmooth does the same sort of thing but actually changes the shape whereas subdivision only seems to complicate the wireframe with no actual visible effect :/
I'll try it again though. What's subdivision modelling?

It sort of means preparing your model for sub-division, for subdivision to work (in my 3d program anyway) you'll have to add edge-loops where you want corners and just leave it the way it is where you want parts to be round. I don't know how subdivision works in Max though... Maybe it's different.

hmm. subdivision in max basically splits the polygons into smaller ones but leaves the shape the same - and then what I did was apply the TurboSmooth mod afterwards which alters the mesh to smooth it. Once i have finished off the final two Toa Nuva, I'll post a new high-poly render on here

really? hmm, shame. In my 3D program you can basically use subdivision for making even the simplest models into high quality models, with some editing of course.
