Description
The scene is influenced by Lord of the Rings a little again. The object at the top of the obelisk could serve for surveillance of the surrounding area. Or it's just a wizard's experiment. Or something else...______________________________

I simply love it. Everything just looks and feels so real; the snow-capped mountain behind the pillar kinda reminds me of Paramount Pictures' logo: I half expect it to be taken over by a bunch of stars as an epic jingle signals the start of a movie.
The pillar itself is a thing to marvel at: it towers above the heavens, as evinced by the flock of birds flying not far from its base. It is both centripetal and centrifugal: it invites the eye of the beholder to focus upon it, yet also compels to look upon everything else that's going on in the painting, such as the clouds and fog-enshrouded landscape.
Overall, you've done one hell of a job here. Everything about this makes me wonder what that shining pearly orb atop the pillar is and what can it possibly mean for the fictional world this story is set in. I like to think it's the Eye of EΓΆnwΓ«, from The Silmarillion. Kudos.

Fantastic alignment of objects in the image, and I really like the sci-fi touch to this otherwise fantasy picture!

very cool! I like how the obelisk and the mountain line up. I really like the moodiness the neutral colors bring out.

Cool! Reminds me of this documentary I saw once about these giant sun-reflectors that were put on the mountains surrounding a town (can't remember which, though I think it was in northern Europe somewhere) to help bring some extra hours of daylight to the town during the winter months seeing how the days were short enough already, especially for a town surrounded by hills that would fall into their shadows quite fast when the sun doesn't go very high at that time of the year. Pretty clever

Yeah I've heard about that town. It's in Italy or Austria I guess... They were living in darkness for ages
Stupid people to build a village there.

I suppose we question why some people chose certain sites to establish villages. But usually the environment seems to be the most favourable in the areas that are least convenient. Much like how villages often appear near volcanoes that could destroy them instantly - because farmers that settled the place to begin with favoured the fertile soils, not giving much thought as to the potential drawbacks that might one day come with living right next to a volcano

Italy isn't northern Europe... but I didn't know about the mirror in Norway.
I was referring to: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/618β¦

And I was pulling your leg Tobias. I am not aware of further civil implementations, although there should be many. However there are several interesting industrial applications, the solar powered Stirling alternator being one of them. And the PS10 of course, which nicely resembles your Obelisk.
