Description How would it look like if a planet got into the remains of a neighbour? Devastating probably. I tried to create another asteroid impact scenario. The point of view is a bit different than before. Anyway I do hope you like this wallpaper!

Habatchii says;

Very well...

I thought you were mentioning a similar situation in which you visualized the remnants of a drifting city from an exploded planet crashing into another planet's atmosphere? I keep seeing this also, but from the perspective of the people on each landmass. Nice work regardless.

Habatchii-

A different angle, lovely. Sometimes I just wish I could make 50 different angles of the same image, it would be awesome :d.

haha yeah just learn to work with 3D programs and then it's an easy task

unfortunately I suck at 3D

Ahh true, 3D programs would make it WAY easier. Don't worry, I suck at 3D too, I don't even have a 3D program . You're not alone haha XD

That cloud-evaporating shockwave is sure terrifying. Reminds me of the impact scene from Deep Impact (which has held up very well over the years I must say, and is my favourite movie explosion still ) I'm just glad to see something new on the space art scene. Been looki'n a little dry around here as of late

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

TobiasRoetsch In reply to Chromattix [2015-03-31 15:55:33 +0000 UTC]

Deep Impact came to my mind as well. Oldie but a goodie!
Well the scene is not that new but it had been done differently so far.

I have something else in mind that could indeed be kind of "new". Hopefully I'll find some time and motivation in between commissions.

Thank you!

Chromattix In reply to TobiasRoetsch [2015-04-01 03:18:56 +0000 UTC]

I agree. Still enjoy that movie, and still get goosebumps during the impact scene. It's what I drew inspiration from when I created my The Showdown After the Countdown artwork a while back. Who doesn't love huge explosions? (well, i suppose those getting caught in one wouldn't )

I do think this one looked interesting enough to fave anyway though. Besides some leeway has to be given with these kinds of scenes anyway. You can only go so far in the uniqueness department before a space scene no longer becomes a space scene It certainly is fun to experiment with unique ideas but I'll never fully close myself off to the classics

XelfrepuslaX In reply to Chromattix [2015-03-31 13:35:44 +0000 UTC]

Dry as in boring space art? Or just no space art. I'm pretty sure there are lots of people that post planets thrown onto star backgrounds over and over again xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to XelfrepuslaX [2015-03-31 13:52:49 +0000 UTC]

Eh, bit of both really. The genre has seen better days. I'm guilty of doing the typical space scenes myself. They're great "starting out material" for newer artists until they get the skills and confidence to do something a little more interesting. But indeed after being on here for as long as I have you crave something that's either really classic or really original

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

XelfrepuslaX In reply to Chromattix [2015-03-31 13:56:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeap, I have to agree. I myself am guilty of such things XD. Although now I tend to try to be more original when it comes to space scenes e.g nebulas etc. Although even that gets a bit standardised. I guess it does take some time to build up the skills to be able to do those types of scenes, I have so many scenes I want to do but just lack the skill. Also that feel when you try it and find out that you're not good enough yet... ahh it hurts XD. I try make original pieces, but I reall am unsure if they are or not haha XD

Absolutely gorgeous, the blend of orange and blue is always beautiful in a space photo. The angle at which the planet is gives an awe inspiring sense of scale! Well done!
