any directionCollaboration between *ChrisCold and `taenaron .
It actually is my third collab and I'm very pleased with the outcome. The original concept was made by *ChrisCold . The overall appearance changed several times during the last two months. *ChrisCold was responsible for and middleground and I did the background. But both worked on the whole pic, improving little things etc.
What is it? Ask your imagination...

It's a linear subspace acceleration transporter. similar to a planetary mass driver but with SUBSPACE! Oh and you don't have to be launched vertically.
Or a massive not-virtual observatory and/or non-military control center (deck, whatever).
Or both...
Oh, and @Jeturcotte (critique):
The cloud doesn't haf to be a nebula. It could be that the star in question is a small yellow, and did not have the ignition force strong enough to push away the dense dust cloud at the system's birth. It may not even be the core star; the system in question may be binary. The larger star may have dragged (the system may be ancient) dust of sorts in system, and it is gathering around the star in view.
