Nice work in this drawing...This gives out an eerie and hollow vibe in both coloring and detail.
The whole landscape has a monochromatic order from the lowest rocky fields to the light colored clouds touching the yellow sky. Even the tower has more of a feel of abandonment and gothic horror when looking at it closely. A lot of minimalistic features also apply in both the tower, the birds, and the background.
The yellow sky also fits perfectly to the tone of the image. The birds perceived in a variety of close-ups and distances for the viewers is magnificent.
Now I know why this is entitled "Cold," and for a great reason...Truly a work of art...
Keep it up!

Thank you very much, man!
Yeah, I'm attending a Games development school at the moment and I'm trying to make my workflow more quick and efficient. So it becomes more minimalistic in the way I get shapes and objects down fast, hopefully with only one brush stroke ,- cause working this fast, yet efficiently, in the business means a lot, I believe.
And it let's me get everything I want down on paper as fast as possible, upon which I work more on details afterwards.
Thanks for taking the time to delivering your critique!

I think this piece is great and there isn't really anything about the art itself I would change it works well as is.
My only critique I suppose would just be with the title if that even makes sense.
The title "Cold" It doesn't quite hit me as cold, but it does hit me as "barren" "desolate" "lonely" "emptiness" "vast" perhaps that could be one of the same, but my first thought when I saw the piece wasn't "cold"
It's already using a cool palette, but I might have shifted it a little towards green as well as not rounded out the rock formations so much, more jaggedness and sharp edges might lend to the idea of it being an unfeeling and harsh place without necessarily becoming a cliche of what people think when they think of cold
Either way, this piece is lovely, and those are just nitpicks on my end as far as a title is concerned which really is probably not a necessary thing at all!

Thank you very much for an interesting critique! I think why I chose the name "Cold" is because when something is barren, desolate and lonely, I feel it loses this colourful and lively touch, and it becomes to some degree "cold". I don't think I was thinking about literal cold with snow and all, but rather a place without any life or warmth, only desolation, loneliness and - cold. But yeah, that is only my own, subjective opinion!
Hmm, adding more jagged rock formations would create a more hostile, spiky environment, I'm sure.
Nitpicks are good to have aswell, my friend! Really interesting to hear so much great input! And I do believe the title has a lot to say when it comes to creating an even better image in the viewer's mind, but mainly, the picture should speak for itself!
Thanks!

I think this piece is incredibly successful. The sense of atmosphere is uncanny. The use of blue shadows and yellow lighting really adds to the mystery and anxiety that I feel the piece creates. I appreciate the juxtaposition of the strange man made structures to the natural forms of the trees and ground. As far as suggestions go they are all nit picking, but I would suggest varying the direction of the trees just slightly. They all appear to be leaning in the same direction. Also for the three larger 'birds' in the piece I would recommend making the two small birds slightly more in focus then the one closest to the viewer. Again just nit picking, overall I really enjoy this piece. It's not overly complicated looking but there is clear attention to detail, and an obvious understanding of light and form. Great work!

Wow, thanks for a great review! Yeah, that was one of my main concerns, that the trees might all be leaning in a somewhat same direction and that it would impair some of the overall results, and I tried adding more trees and branches leaning slightly other ways, but soon felt that I was overdoing it, in a sense. I have an ability to make art a "science" if I spend too much time on one piece, and I think that really impairs my ability to get it all Down there as efficiently and seamlessly as possible. And Yeah, the birds! I totally see why I should make the more distant birds sharper, a great note! Thank you very much for an insightful critique, and I hope you have a pleasant day!

Thank you! Yeah, I love combining simplicity with more advanced techniques. It's a great workflow to get used to! Get it all down as quickly as possibly (before your brain starts to overthink and fuck shit up), and then bring in the heavier stuff!
