FF 4 J is FF 2 US. They have the remake on the GAmeboy Adavnce I think.

Remakes are almost always crap. I was the ORIGINALS... Those are very hard to find.
But thats one of my life quests: Find and play (and beat) every FF game made.

Get the emulator ZSNES. And then look for the rom to play in the emulator. Then you'll have the old-school game.
Plus there's no remakes YET for Final Fantasy 4, 5 and 6. Only port-overs. They're currently working on a remake of FF4 coming out this year in Japan.

The fire, water and wind effects standout a lot, they have a very traditional look that make these characters look so lordy just as they are supposed to look.
Your depiction of them inspires the fear and awe that their battle theme inspired to me both as a child and as a grown-up.
