i like the hair. and the misty part of the ground. The sword reminds me of those chain swords you see on animes, so it's pretty neat.

painter is pretty hard to use. it takes time.
you should start off first using the acrylic brushes, then work your way from there

I dunno about painter, I've seen great things come out of it but you can do pretty much all that and more in photoshop (can't u?). People that use painter often bring what they are working back into photoshop to make adjusments anyway, so I'd stick with photoshop. I look and this and then your other stuff (even the artrage picture) and well this picture is, for me, was pretty unsuccesful. My main issue is that the flow of the picture is broken by all the broke brush strokes of that silver sword and the hair is a mess. When I tried to learn to use painter i had similar difficulties, for me it the program wasn't very intuative.

All the crap that's bad about this piece i think is more just me and not the program im using haha. Painter can still make stuff look alot more convincingly traditional than photoshop, but i still can't control the brushes in painter as easily as i could with actual paint n brushes so that kind of sucks.
that sword was supposed to look like a bone sword or like ivy's sword or something lol but yes it fails

Its tru that you can produce more covincingly traditional thing in painter but fell it should be a little more user friendly. When i was trying to learn i had to get my friend to set up brushes for me XD and I still had a hard time.

I'd be interested in seeing some traditional painting and i'm sure other wil be too.

Painter felt quite natural, similar to real painting (only with the pros and cons of being on a computer) to me. I'd say keep playing with it and things should begin to fall into place.
