Description I've been seeing do many doing grayscale marker sketches using COPIC markers.

I got a few and gave it a try.

They're a lot of fun. Gonna have to try more and learn some tricks.

I've got to try some of the Copic markers, I've seen so many guys using it to great effect, you included of course. I've heard they can run on the expensive side though.

Love her hair and the slight turn of her head too, Todd.

great piece, I've been away from marvel for 20+ years now, but she looks to be a heroine not to be on the bad side of. Very nice use of markers.

gorgeous work. (as always) if I didn't know better I'd think this was just a regular marker set hit with the grey scale 8-bit treatment.

I know several people who use the sets of gray (warm, neutral, and cool) Prismacolors, but those, I guess, are stiffer than the Copics.

TRIA markers are like those Prismacolors.

COPIC are far more yielding. A whole new dimension of application!
But they are like $5 a marker.

ToddNauck In reply to PatCarlucci [2009-05-23 23:21:30 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Pat.

I guess technically, I have been using markers for years. Mostly TRIA markers. And I haven't really doen any greayscale stuff.

But these COPIC markers have a tip that is almost brush-like. I like the give it has to create sweet line weights.

I'll probably be posting more!

Took a quick peek. You have some fun stuff going on.

Pointers:
Draw from real life as much as you can.
And if you'd like to be a comic book artist someday, start working on sequential pages. Learn storytelling!

Keep in drawing and having fun!
