Description I hope this is ok.

To be honest, my first App (and my prologue) so far was very sloppy. I felt kind of bad about it. I know that I can do better, and since I want to have my comic in color after I finish the prologue, I thought I really needed an App that could accurately represent my style (when I apply a little effort), and the rank I would like to aim for with the colored comics.

When I started the comic in black and white, I did so because I wasn't sure I could handle doing color pages. I wasn't sure that I would run out of fuel, and to be honest, I'll still do another long page in black and white most likely, because I don't think anything will be happening in the beginning. I am still worried about running out of steam, and so I want to save my energy for the action filled pages that will require a lot more time and motivation to get perspectives, anatomy, zooming, etc. right.

Will I lose points for changing style mid comic? The main point pages will all be in color, but should I redo the beginning pages after I finish the rest (is that even allowed)? I don't know if I'll seriously compete this round, but it'd be nice to know for future reference, ya know?

At any rate, the part I hope is ok is that this is a new ref? I kept all of the information the same, except changing my 'class' to Raichu. If the mods feel that this is inappropriate, or if it's against the rules, just let me know and I'll quickly change it back. I didn't want to update the old deviation because ... well, not to be sappy, but it was my very first submition to PMD-E and I wanted to have that nostalgia to look back on later.

Anita the Growlithe:

Profile: Anita was a growlithe born into a 'wild' family in the Creeping Forest, a family which tended to live outside of civilized motions. She was forced to leave her family behind for reasons she won't specify, but harbors no ill will towards them, implying that it was simply time to go her separate way.

Kind and loving to others, Anita is always hoping to be able to express her maternal instincts on young ones some day, be it taking care of an egg and raising it as her own, or just helping out those in need. She has a natural instinct to care for all beings- and will usually side blindly with an individual that she perceives as being attacked, even if she doesn't know the full story.

Anita has some personal troubles with food. Having had to take care of Dajin, if she finds food, she will usually give her all to make sure that he gets a full meal, and eat the scraps herself, unless he insists that she eat more. In an instance where she has more food than both of them can consume, though, she will eat until she's got a belly ache, thinking that another opportunity won't come along for a while.

Dajin the Poochyena

Profile: Similar to Anita, Dajin was born in the Creeping Forest, and forced away from his family, but on much more aggressive terms. He didn't live a fun filled puppy life, but was in a fairly aggressive family, and so took on a bit of their defensiveness.

When he was initially forced from his home, he was just slightly too young to fend easily for himself. Anita met him when they were both looking for territory to settle in, and helped to care for him, protect him, and find food for him. However, the hectic life in Creeping Forest lead both to believe that perhaps it was not the home they should be looking for, and so they joined the Rogues in hopes of finding an easier meal ticket. While both wish to do the right thing, having had to steal food for themselves, they understand that sometimes the law doesn't work in favor of those that are truly in need. They merely wish to make their own lives work, and when possible, help those that are less fortunate.

In spite of his smaller size, Dajin feels the overwhelming need to protect Anita. He will often bark at her if he feels that she's making a poor choice, and won't hesitate to bite anyone that he thinks may be threatening either of them. Unlike Anita, his bites tend to be much more serious- he intends to harm, not simply to warn, unless it is Anita he is biting. In spite of his otherwise poor demeanor, Dajin tries to be polite when meeting strangers. This attempt can sometimes fall flat because of his perpetually unamused expression.

Nice wrok but the only problem is that growlithe looks a little like Arcanine. Aside from that, its all great.

I can certainly try to adjust this at a later doubt to make it more growlith-y, but do you have any pointers?

I only really see one difference between Growlithe and Arcanine (besides the triangle stripe on Arcanines), and that's the leg floof. The other differences (like hair length) are negligible, from what I understand? She will have much poofier fluff if I ever get the chance to evolve her~

well there are other diferences, for example growlithe has more droopy ears (only a bit though), the hair at the snout and jaw is short, while arcanine has long hair there. and the line between the orange and the... soft brown... it never gets too near the ear, it only marks the mouth and jaw area, while arcanine has it long and going all the way around. and its a dog, watch out cause the ears do tell a hell of a lot on what animal it is. although its the nose that says its a dog here.

other than that, wow its so much better! I was guessing that you could make it look as good as this from the previous stuff, and... well yup!

Thanks for the advice~
Most of Anita's hair I modified to be longer to be more... girly, I guess? I definitely understand how it resembles an Arcanine, though~ I try to keep it (at least in the comics) as much of a subtle curl around the face as possible, so it's not the overwhelming shepherd-like mask that Arcanine has (and with floppier ears). I try to keep it off the sides of her neck, too, so it's obvious that it doesn't wrap around.

I can't wait to evolve her in the future~ Part of my problem with growlithes is that I started out drawing her evolution first! She's got a long ways to go though, so as the comic progresses, I think I'll improve being able to draw her more growlithe-y, and then will update this when I've had some more experience~

Thanks again for all the tips~

Well, the hair is the only thing that makes it arcanin-y. Aside from that, I dont think theres anything.
