Well, they are both "Lepidoptera". In French they are called "Papillons", in German "Schmetterlinge". In English, there is a distinction between Heterocera and Rhopalocera (basically: nocturnal and diurnal lepidoptera).
So, Heterocera=Moths, Rhopalocera=Butterflies.

Well there is Schmetterling (Butterfly), Motte (Moth) and Falter (that can be both)

It is very difficult to identify Lycaenidae... There are specialists of this family.
Anyway, I don't think it's Cupido argiades. It could be rather Cyaniris semiargus. (Not sure at 100%).

In french we use the word "papillon" for all Lepidoptera; we say commonly "Papillon de nuit" ou "papillon de jour".
