Description xD I've gone and figured a way how to do these things without the help of Apophysis. This was done in Photoshop CS2, with the help of the eraser, unlimited filters, a few grunge brushes, and some 20-ish layers. ^^

Downloading:
I saved this wallpaper 1920x1200 for your desktop. Go ahead and download it it you want, but please don't take steal this and take the credit. I worked really hard on this.

How it was done
I got help from a tutorial to figure out the main idea, (using light flares, finding edges, coloring it, and then using the wave filter [as well as the randomiser] to get a cool image, and then just duplicating it a few times, erasing bits, changing opacities and applying the image as Linear dodge) but then didn't like how plain the original looked...so I spiffed it up.

The normal tutorial takes maybe 15 minutes to do, it's mostly filters. Mine took an hour and a half.

Tutorial
Here's the tut incase you're interested:

When doing the tutorial, this is roughly what you'll get from it. (I changed my color from blue to purple, so you know it's been done by me)

It looks like you're trying do go for vortexdragon's style of fractal wallpapers, only without the fractal part. Some people wouldn't call her stuff real fractals because she edits them after she renders it.

This is from wikipedia:
A fractal is generally "a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole,"[1] a property called self-similarity. The term was coined by Benoรฎt Mandelbrot in 1975 and was derived from the Latin fractus meaning "broken" or "fractured."

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's not nice, it's just not a fractal.

P.S, Apophysis doesn't even call them Fractals, they call them flames.

So what would you call it then? Besides, I like her style of fractals. Just leaving them as they are once they are rendered means you didn't really put any of your own work into it, you just put in some numbers, let the computer do the work, and then submitted it as your own. Her artwork, she lets the computer do some of it, but then adds her own artistic touch afterwards, which makes it all her own.
It's like mining for diamonds, finding a diamond in the rough, and trying to sell it to people as an actual diamond. You did nothing to it, it's not really of value, until you shape it and turn it into something beautiful.

Personally, I called it a fractal nightmare because to me, it looks like a fractal, and ended up being a nightmare to do, but it's just filters and photoshop and brushes.

So yeah, if you've got any suggestions as to what I should put this artwork under, go ahead and gimme ideas, otherwise I'll stick to the name fractal nightmare under Wallpapers-fractals.
