Maybe my journal will help you...at the end of it there are photo compilations of how some of my paintings came to be.
This one is also shown there.

tokyomoonlight.deviantart.com/…

But mostly I like to see some photos, listen to music (lyrics) and then something makes a click in the brain and you have a painting.Β Β  Β

I collect some pins on Pinterest...I would call it my vision/inspiration board
www.pinterest.com/TokyoMoonlig…

Others have sketchbooks, I have collections of photos. Β

Btw...I use many color shemes to give me an idea about the color...for this painting I used this oneΒ  www.pinterest.com/pin/38428378…

I hope that helps Β

sheΒ΄s gorgeous! I love the movement of her hair, what kind of paper do you use with watercolors?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TokyoMoonlight In reply to MyonaPierce [2016-04-07 12:55:25 +0000 UTC]

When it comes to watercolor paper I'm not the right person to talk to. Β
In the beginning I was using regular school block paper (one side is smooth, the other has texture). Β

Now I'm using some cheap watercolor paper produced in my country (Slovenia).
I bought also some watercolor pads by Koh-I-Noor. This one doesn't like water to much...because it makes some dot-kind-of stains. You have to know how to use it. Β

But! I managed to buy a brand new watercolor pad, 75 sheets by Fabriano.

fabriano.com/en/108/maxi_blocc…

Haven't done anything yet...I only did some color test on it...and I found it good. Β

When it comes to paper I'm not buying brands. I can't spend too much on my art supplies, so I'm happy with what I have. Β

Thank you for replying i think i will experiment with papers and see what works

TokyoMoonlight In reply to MyonaPierce [2016-04-09 10:37:34 +0000 UTC]

That's a good answer.
If you can, ask your store if they have any watercolor paper samples...so you don't have to buy themΒ to see which one works for you. Or maybe just buy an individual sheet from each brand if it's available. Β
Good luck Β
