Very nice of shadow. That block of black that covers the majority of the shot paired with the textures on the wall creates a huge amount of dynamic - in some places, it almost looks as if the shadows are seeping down the walls.

The play with the figures seemingly rising out of the darkness works very nicely, isolating the negative space to create a large impact and an intriguing scene.
I definitely feel as if the downwards angle of the staircase paired with the shadows that grow stronger nearing the bottom of the staircase work very nicely together, giving a sense of descent and reinforcing the effect of the darkness.

The much lighter white binds it all together in a very nicely composed shape, sharpening the shadows and highlighting the intricacies of the darkness.

This is a great shot... I would humbly said I would have love to get the upper line more "horizontal", but I can understand either that the man is climbing down the stairs, and so is inclined the shot...
