This is truly amazing!! I love the freshness of colors, interesting elements and the way you did the light the most.

Thank you. At first it was going to be even mistier but I thought that rays of morning sun would make the painting more interesting and beautiful. Plus, I felt it goes with the lyrics and mood of the song.

Thank you. People have said more than once that I'm sort of like "Thomas Kinkade on acid".

Yes has always given me lots of ideas for paintings like this one, but I've never had the skills to make it for real. Very good work!

Thank you. I was in my teens back in 1972-'73 when I heard Yes for the first time. The music created images like these in my mind, though quite vague at the time.
Β I could always draw pretty good but I didn't have the painting skills.
College helped me paint better but I had no direction.Β I worked for my father at his commercial art studio for 25 years and didn't paint for 15 years.
Finally, in 1999 I found my direction.
My Yes-inspired paintings, done mostly in the last 10 years, represent what I would have liked to have painted if I had the skill and clarity of vision back when I was a teenager.

I love the way you paint snow andΒ ice. It's not bleak and dreary, it's beautiful. That's kind of rare, I find. Snow usually just looks drab. You give it life and light.

Thank you. I'm originally from Michigan where Winter did tend to be gray and dreary.
At certain times when the light was right it could be quite beautiful, though.

Yep! Just because it's a long, smooth plain of a single color, does not mean people get to be lazy painting it. An artist has to remember that the shadows and lights falling on snow can be some of the most interesting and beautiful. So many do not realize this. You do.

How long did it take you to do this? (By the way, I spent a long time staring at this picture. I love your works and hope you don't mind me favouriting a ton of them)

Thanks, I'm quite flattered. This painting took about a month to do which is about average for me.

Not to mention the trans-dimensional portals that they are contained within.

*luminorphs coming out of the tree-portal. I forgot their name again, sorry.

Well, I did use jellyfish as models here rather than my own spontaneously created luminorphs. The ones hanging onto the branches are a little of both.

Thank you. It's my interpretation of Jon Anderson's lyrics: the "Coloured Door of Time". The jelly fish represent the "Seeds of Life".

Oooh! I haven't actually heard thatΒ song before, butΒ Jon Anderson is who sung "Loved by the Sun" at the end of the movie "Legend," right? That's one of my very favorite songs! And anyways, that's very neat about the jellyfish being the seeds. And you certainly made them and the door colorful!

Yes, "Loved by the Sun" was sung by Jon Anderson but I believe it was written by Tangerine Dream.
You should listen to "And You and I" sometime. It and "Take a Pebble" by ELP are my two favorite songs of all time.

Thanks. In the past I was influenced by Tolkien and Asimov. This is when I was listening to Yes for the first time. I wasn't familiar with C.S. Lewis. When I finally saw "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" movie for the first time I was rather delighted by the wardrobe/portal opening to a Winter scene.
