Thank you. It's a commission for 'Silent Existence', a psychedelic music site. They gave me the title, "Transmigration" then left the idea up to me. It's sort of a 'sequel' to my previous painting, "Transcendence".

It shows your great range as an artist...the black and white style isn't something I see from you very often.
Love the path curving off and the unusual shaped rocks. The sky is beautiful too. Makes me yearn for the summer!
It will make a brilliant album cover!

Ah, okay! It seems I had missed that one. But I think, the new painting is even better.

Thank you. The first painting was rather experimental. It didn't mean that much to me personally. Fortunately, it actually sold though, which was nice.

Well it looks like these shapes are having a fine time going through the sun light fields I say.

LookOutHereComesTom [2016-02-28 02:33:42 +0000 UTC]

Wow...the whole progression of this goes from basic concepts and diagrams on the left to that heavenly light on the right.  The creatures in between look like they're more basic forms of life, whereas the things on the right...they're huge, but it's hard to tell what's a rock formation and what's a traveller!

All-in-all a great piece

Tolkyes In reply to LookOutHereComesTom [2016-02-28 18:08:37 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. 'Silent Existence' supplied me with the title, "Transmigration" and I went from there. Almost immediately I thought of a more elaborate version of my previous painting, "Transcendence".
Basically, the entire landscape and everything in it including the 'luminorphs' as well as the weird rock formations transformed while migrating from their rudimentary geometric existence.
I like to keep such things open-ended, though. Sometimes it's best to let the viewer involve their own imagination as to what the imagery is about.

'Silent Existence' told me their album would be titled, "Transmigration". The rest was up to me but I found the word "Transmigration" very inspiring. I came up with an idea right away.
