Description
Another photograph from my February trip to the East Sierra and DV. This certainly was one amazing sundown. As I was walking towards he west side of the valley trying to get away from footsteps, and people as possible the clouds were breaking up, and the sun was illuminating them better and better. I shot this to be B&W right from the beginning.Β

Nice detail. I hiked all the way out to the low spot once and it was amazing how the size and texture of these would change every few thousand yards.

Yes, it also reminds me of badwater basin! Love salt plains and the effect on them.

It's similar to works of my favourite artist- Caspar David Friedrich, romantic painter.
Beauty!

This manages to be ethereal and complex at once. The black of the clouds and mountains is offset by the exquisite sharpness and bright contrast of the flats. The composition is almost cheating with those lines trailing off into the distance like that! My eyes are constantly roaming between the seemingly impossible array of salt crusts and the dramatic skyline. Congratulations on the perfect picture.

Very dramatic - I like it
Not being from the area it would be my guess that it's salt covering the ground?
