Size comparison of large animals that lived between 33 million years ago and 10,000 years ago.Upper row: Argentavis magnificens (South American giant bird of prey), Kubanochoerus gigas (large, horned pig), Platybelodon danovi (proboscid with shovel-like tusks), Stupendemys geographicus (large freshwater turtle from South America), Rhamphosuchus crassidens (giant gharial), Astrapotherium magnum (large tapir-like mammal from South America) and Sivatherium giganteum (horned okapi from India).
