Yeah, i like that old logo, too...

and i prefered "Alias Wavefront" to "autoDesk"...

I think, the online help was LOTS better whe the prog still came from AW...
It was simply more helpful, and somehow, it was written in a "nicer" way...

Plus: Somehow, Alias|wavefront had a cetain... uhm... sorta "coolness" to them, haha...

Oh, and about the avatar:
Glad ya like it!
I found it in an icon collection on [link] ^_^

Now...
I started out on 3D Studio R4 for DOS (!), later on i moved to 3dsmax (since version 1.0 !) and used that FOR YEARS, and i still LOVE it... But i was always looking envious at the winners of the animago and stuff from the siggraph, and i discovered these all were IRIX people, that used Alias|wavefront PowerAnimator and similar, which was not available for the NT platform...

When i heard about the new Software "Maya" which was intented to sorta replace PowerAnimator, i got interested already... but when i heard that there was an NT version to be released, i got really excited... But as i looked at maya, i was sorta "frightened" at first, cuz it all worked so different... and my systems performance was really awful, so i stcuk with MAX (which STILL is an Awesome program!) ... then i managed to kill my PC and couldnt afford a new one for about... now... 3 or 4 years...? So i was stuck at my moms Pentium 1 233 MMX for that time... (interestingly: Nurbs Modeler Rhinoceros still ran...well.. not fast, but "reasonable" on that machine! ), and i watched a lot of tuts and such for maya and other apps... well, and after i finally got a new machine, i decided to give Maya another time, with my new knowledge and of course higher Performance and now i go with Maya ^_^

That's really cool,
You have a long history with those software

I only started with them since i was 13-12 years old (about 3-4 years ago)

So, i sepouse you work as an animator? or do you just like 3D art as a hobby?

Oh, i would LOVE to work in the business... *sigh*...

But in germany its quite hard to get into the business...

No official professions and such...
and the private schools that teach this A) are really unaffordably expensive and B) The diploma you get after attending such a school isnt offically accepted by government...

And there are only few jobs in that area in germany, sadly...

I currently consider trying my luck by freelancing. Well, not in such a large scale that i could make a living of it, haha, at least not at first, since i got NO reputation or such... but more or less for fun!

and yeah, Graphics are sorta hobby for me... I LOVE that stuff... i am hooked to it...

Oh, and i have seen your beautiful Stratocaster-guitar ! Nice one! I happen to play guitar myself, so i like it!
There should be a guitar i have modeled in 3dsmax about 7 or 8 years ago somewhere in my scraps...

I hope, one day, i can turn CG into my job...
that would be really, REALLY cool!

I wish to be work in the 3D CG field myself, thats why i plan to move out of my current country of Israel (after graduation) and hopefully get into an affordable 3D animation school to earn my diploma..

Good luck,
