Description
My 2nd vector attempt, this time it's Pinkie Pie. Hope to maybe do all of the mane six as I want to try different shapes and angles to get in some practice and experiment with different ways to draw them. Pinkie Pie took me roughly 8 hours to do and I kept thinking of the "Smile" song in my head the entire time I drew her.Excuse any errors made, still learning, but welcome positive feedback for improvement. If you like it, please 'favorite' to let me know. If you use this anywhere, please credit me and provide a link in the comments.
This vector idea came from Season 1, Episode 1, where it all began.

Good second attempt. The reason why we use vector programs is because of their ability to make smooth strokes (along with being able to resize and edit an image at will without raster issues). I'm not sure what GIMP has to offer as far as vector tools, but making smooth joins (nodes), as well as keeping consistent stroke widths, are where I'd suggest you start to practice. Smoothness is key!

Thanks for the feedback.
Yep, I noticed the smoothness of the strokes, but it's silly I don't notice them until "after" I've posted them. Now I can look at it and I'm going, oh yes, I see it here and there and ugh.
GIMP does nodes very well, it's quite more simpler than I thought I'd be. But then again, I have yet to attempt Inkscape or Ponyscape, so I can't really compare yet. I think where I'm failing on the smoothness is when I 'shrink' or 'grow' the node for the outline. Well that and I'm using Season 1, Episode 1 ponies from the show, which are actually not "smooth" themselves. The ponies get a lot better in appearance as the seasons go by. I'd probably be making the same smoothing mistakes in Inkscape too if it requires shrinking or growing node lines, until I can get the hang of it. I'll pay more attention to the smoothness and see if I can improve on it any in GIMP or give Inkscape a try soon to see if it does any better.
I've also heard it helps to use 1080p to vector from, I only have 720p for my highest resolution(due to hard drive space), that might be part of the lack for smoothness too.

Going 1080 might help your proportions a bit; not sure how much it helps with smoothness overall. Ultimately, it comes down to you just stepping back from your work and saying, "Do I like what I see here?", as you know.
Yeah, sometimes using early references means seeing more errors. Fix 'em as you go.

I really hope she doesn't try her stunts again.

With Pinkie Pie, I wouldn't trust a hope.
