I don't know why but I somehow keep coming back to this picture over and over. Something about the grainy traditional media and the cryptic French message (even translated) still escapes me. The very selective detail stuns me such as the fur print on the cat-like creature and the glossy and reflective eyes of their direct stare, the fruit flies with light bouncing off gossamer wings and, finally, each reflective dot on the handful of crystals spilling. I'm simply fascinated by the harsh smoke and running colors in the background pulling forward the breathy dialogue bubble and the burning field. The harsh reflections of light mixing with skin, shirt, and hair bring such a brilliant score of color.
