This one was long overdue, and that was solely because I both couldn't be bothered to post and couldn't think of anything to prattle on about as I don't have a life. Avocets are fun birds with that funky spindly beak and all. I actually have a photo of the beak in profile but it hasn't been made ready for publication yet (hint hint). Though this particular bird is ankle-deep in algae, avocets have a protein-rich diet of mostly crustaceans and insects. I too have a protein-rich diet. I've tried to cut down on the meat (well... beef - chicken is basically a vegetable in terms of emissions) intake and mostly succeeded when I'm in Bristol at least, as far as I know my dad back home-home doesn't actually have any vegetarian recipes to hand. I digress. I say 'tried' as I've now bought myself a chilli plant. Her name is Chimble and she's a good spicy boi so chilli con carne is happening in the near future. You can make chilli with the chopped up peppers right? All the recipes online call for powder, but powder's for scrubs.Taken at Slimbridge Wetland Centre, Gloucestershire, England in August 2018.
