Description The Gigantopithecus is an extinct large ape that resembled a cross between a gorilla and an orangutan. It lived in Asia until it disappeared around 100,000 years ago. It's mostly a herbivore and it eats plants, on occasion, it eats insects and small animals as a source of protein. It's the largest primate that ever lived and may have been an inspiration to King Kong.

That's.... a very large Gigantopithecus. Still a good piece, though.

Thanks for noticing. The name, Gigantopithecus, literally means `giant ape' in Greek.

No, I mean that it's not the right size. Gigantopithecus was around ten feet tall when on hind legs, IIRC.

Oh, I forgot. The largest Gigantopithecus was between 9-10 feet tall. It looked a little like King Kong.

Thanks! I'm not sure how I would feel running into such a large ape, even, if it's a Gigantopithecus.
