Pencils by: [link]Inks by: Me
Inked upon request as a sample/tryout. Really enjoyed inking this, big mix of quill, brush, rapidograph.. whatever was required for the right texture really!

He he, thanks a lot - and yeah, Beauty and The Robobeast -- I'm having weird flashes of Paul Verhoeven directing a Disney movie...!

Paul Verhoeven directing a Disney flick sounds like the greatest movie that hasn't happened yet.

nice and smooth on the tech stuff i can never get my lines so percise when im dealingwith french curves and other templates sigh.

Thanks man! Yeah, it was a case of switching between all of the french curve and ellipse template sets I have to get them all to look right, whilst also switching between different weights of tech pen! I wanted a really strong distinction between the techy looking armour and the other surfaces, otherwise I would have freehanded a lot more of the curves and saved myself a lot of time!

yeah i got a bud working on X23 as the inker and he uses french curves and rapidographs for just about EVERYTHING. Just watching makes me cringe lol but he gets the stuff done well and on time. I have a patience problem I think with them, if i took more time to get things lined it would be better. I've been having problems on circles that the penciler has created ( the big ones) prolly by compass and getting that lined up takes forever if i don't have a template big enough that matches.

I used a compass on this for the shoulder pad.. always a bit daunting with a pen as it has the potential to go spectacularly wrong very quickly :-P When I inked a load of Transformers mosaic stuff a few years ago I would always use a french curve and tech pen, but that was before I took the time to learn how to use the brush and had the confidence to throw lines in a single stroke - As you say though dude, whatever it takes to get the right look and more importantly meet the deadline!
A bought a full set of ellipse templates off eBay a while ago that have been a complete lifesaver.. from 15 to 60 degrees with 5 degree intervals... can be a bit pricey but worth investing in
