"If Gandalf ever gets back from defeating the Necromancer, I’ll kill him."
I just rewatched the ‘Desolation of Smaug’ and oh man…Giant spiders are one of those things that shouldn’t ever have been allowed to happen. Ever. But they did happen. And then they kept happening.
It's already on Tumblr franklyrainbows.tumblr.com/pos…

Yes, they were brilliant. But spiders are meant to be small and easily scooped into a tiny container so that they can be taken outside where all they can do is terrorise butterflies and fairies

Could live with the spiders .. had more problems with certain elves non-existant in the book .. and all those "now we need to show something really funny"-stuff with the dwarves on the river in the barrels ..

Oh my lord, yes.
I shan't lie. A lot of the movie was erm, fairly unnecessary. But I was studiously ignoring that

As said, could easily live with the spiders and smaug like he was portrayed, not sure about the further unnescessary part with Gandalf in Dol Gul'dur .. (the outcome has been more than questionable in my opinion)

The thing with Gandalf - I didn't have a problem with that part. I was under the impression that all of that stuff was actually going on in the background (my facts are probably completely wrong and I apologise in advance), it was just never really described.
It was the Azog storyline that I had an issue with (pretty sure he was meant to be dead?)...but I'm not going to complain too much. For all it's faults, I still enjoyed it as a movie

with a couple of friends in the cinema, we enjoyed the movie, too, still it is just roughly after the book ..
but without the desire to throw spoilers to those people who haven't seen it yet ..
you will get a note with my explanation about the gandalf issue
