Description Luckily he gave this to me before he passed away.

Created with Apophysis; no post work except for added text.
A new direction for me.

When viewed full view, this image is 20% of the rendered image size (height/width) and is only 4% of the rendered image area. The render has much, much more detail.

That's pretty close. If the image was zoomed it affects the time to render drastically. Also, I have found that using Filter Radius of .2 and Oversample of 1 works best for me.

I think this is the first time I come across something that I am actualy considering to order as a poster.

The colors are so beautiful

Thanks Renee. I just heard from a guy that received a 24" X 36" canvas and he said he is overjoyed . He said the amount of detail was way more than he expected.

Wow. This fractal is overwhelming. I actually thought about creating a fractal art that resembles the universe the moment I learned about fractals, but I guess you did it already and I still have no idea how to create such beautiful works from apo.

Hey- a friend of mine was wondering how long it took you to make this. I'm thinking a week at least.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TomWilcox In reply to NatureGirl1000 [2007-06-20 22:17:42 +0000 UTC]

No, no. a couple od days on and off.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NatureGirl1000 In reply to TomWilcox [2007-06-21 00:29:35 +0000 UTC]

how many hours- approximately?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TomWilcox In reply to NatureGirl1000 [2007-06-21 01:15:32 +0000 UTC]

Ha Ha. You want to win this bet! Ha Ha Maybe 8-10. You must remember, I might spend 2 or 3 days and not produce anything I like. Sometimes longer. Also, my standards are much higher now because my "audience" expects a lot more of me. This is good! It keeps me motivated to do only my best. So what you or someone else might consider a really beautiful image I will never use. I want the "exceptional" image and sometimes I strike out because my audience doesn't like the image as much as I do. Does this make sense? So it is not just the time to make this but all the discards and wasted hours trying to come up with something at the level I would put on. I am sure I am not alone in this.

Best regards,

Tom

Well... it wasn't quite a bet- more like a friendly game . Now I'm curious, how do you make fractial art? Is is some sort of mathematical thing or are you actually "painting" all those lines?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TomWilcox In reply to NatureGirl1000 [2007-06-22 05:50:02 +0000 UTC]

No, not painting. All done within Apophysis, a fractal program. Mostly, it involves numbers, settings, parameters, color gradients, etc. and the manipulation of triangles that alter the image in various ways. Not necessary to be great at math. Most important to know the program well.

Interesting. So like that old kids toy- Spirographs? I used to play with those and they made very similar images.

NatureGirl1000 In reply to TomWilcox [2007-06-23 13:00:29 +0000 UTC]

It was very fun- does this program ever like glitch so it simulates the wheel coming out of the loop?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TomWilcox In reply to NatureGirl1000 [2007-06-23 14:32:49 +0000 UTC]

Not that I know of but there is always a first.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NatureGirl1000 In reply to TomWilcox [2007-06-24 05:27:44 +0000 UTC]

That would be great if they had a special setting just for that sort of simulation. Or they could just re-release the original spirographs: the new ones are really stupid w/o all the options for creativity.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TomWilcox In reply to NatureGirl1000 [2007-06-24 11:42:54 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that could be a great computer program - electronic Spirilgraph where you add various size wheels and vary the colors.

NatureGirl1000 In reply to TomWilcox [2007-06-25 18:43:04 +0000 UTC]
